We have probably all found..to our regret a " speed trap " town or two..

Here are two of my favorites...Summersville, WV, on rt 19...

Have others found these..?

Is that the one at the bottom of the mountain where the speed limit drops from 65 to 50? I know as soon as you go thru the light you drop over a small rise and they sit down in the median, at least that's where I got tagged.

Tell us of other speed traps, so we can be " forewarned " and save ourselves a needless ticket.

BTW: I have made it a practice to NOT patronize bussinesses in speed trap towns...if others do this, perhaps the merchants will " clue in " their local constabulary..

The one in WV is odd, since the town actually sits off to the west a bit from rt 19..but it is a great trap..when I went through they seemed to vary limits up and down for quite a few miles...then lurk just beyond the lowered speed sign.

The one in Fl. is a Lulu, coming north you cross an arched bridge..and John Law waits on the far side, just out of reasonable sight..

BTW:..The 9mm hasn't "caught on".. with my grandson and his fellow combat experienced Marines..

When clearing out terrorist "safe houses" near Ramadi, he didn't use his Beretta..even though it was on his hip..
He preferred his M16 or his Mossberg 500..the Marines say the 9mm ( with Geneva inspired ball ammo) is simply not a "stopper".
The Marines will be going back to the .45..likely, the Kimber Warrior..

I can confirm the Waldo speed trap. Out of all us kids, my sister had the most expensive ticket from Waldo. I think AAA even paid for a billboard outside of Waldo that said "Speed trap Ahead".

I just make shure to slow down anytime a secondary road drops down. Chances are, the local cops are there waiting for easy prey.

I know Waldo well , they have a gift shop that sells t-shirts and key chains that say I got ticketed in Waldo . No joke . You need to watch all the little towns from I-10 south to 326 . Lawtry is bad too . Waldos only revenue is tickets . KD

..back when I was an instructor at a truck driving school, I used to tell my students that anyone who got a ticket inna small town deserved it because every small town in America is trying to make a buck off of traffic tickets....beware of Woodworth La US 165 South of Alexandria La it is almost as famous as Waldo

That may be the same spot, I know you don't see much but the highway and a few traffic lights.

I agree completely, I am more of a .40 or .41 kinda guy myself, never did have much use for the 9mm. But you gotta admit, it is the closest a considerably large number of people in this country have ever been to using the metric system.
I'd have to agree with his choices for clearing, particularly the Mossberg. Nothin' like a scattergun for shooting around corners!!
Hope he is alright over there.
