Teardrop time is real!

Postby tonyj » Tue Aug 22, 2006 12:23 pm

I have been operating under the illusion that I was going to complete my build in less that a year's worth of weekends.

I just checked, and I purchased my my steel for the trailer on June 21st of 2005. I have already busted the 1 year mark by two months.

I have derived a new time formula:

Tony time guesstimate for a Tony build multiplied by a realistict time factor (3.5 or higher) multiplied by teardrop time factor = possible solution to extending human life past 125 years!

My goal now is to keep the build time under 2 years.

I know--I'm a dreamer.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Tony,
Oh how I can relate...
Just ask TDN about my desire, ability and or comprhension of time and clocks. :?
It's bad enough, tryin' to go by the "set rhythm" that somebody decided we should all go by... but what the %^$* is up with this spring forward and fall back crap?!!!
If I ever run for office, I'm gonna set out to abolish daylight savings time once and for all!!!

Tony, thank you SO much for posting this--because I was starting to feel really depressed.

My HF trailer assembly started in May 2005 (I think), and like you, I'm still not done.

Although I have some great excuses--poverty, hurricane, having to move the TD to a boatyard because I don't have a garage and my town's code enforcement officers wanted to fine me to death--it doesn't make me feel any better.

I know they say you are "never" done with it, but I have GOT to be "doner" with it than I am now.
Here we go again!

Don't even get me started on clocks!

The two biggest differences between dog and man: thumbs and clocks. If dogs had thumbs, they wouldn't need us, and do you ever think you will ever see a dog worried about being early or running late?

Ira--those aren't excuses. Those are building obstacles, like 16ths. My philosophy every time I find myself wishing I could finally finish, is that if I weren't building this thing, I would be tormenting myself with something else. At least it keeps me from thinking about politics, religion or being short!

Wait--I've just had an epiphany! We get everyone in Washington and the Middle East to start building teardrops. They forget everything else and live in peace.

Just thought of a problem with that, they would all join this forum and start battling about posting in all CAPS, and all hell would break loose. So much for world peace.

You forgot the third biggest difference: (Can't really explain it here, but I'm sure you know what I mean.)

And since they don't have many trees, we could sell them the wood to make them at very high prices!

...it would never work...the mountain people would be fighting the faltlanders over suspension/brake types and the desert dwellers would fight the coastal folks over what type of skinning process is best and they would all wanna know what weapons locker techniques would be best for really quick access and storage capacity...not to mention what the best way of fastening armor plate would be...then there is the whole camouflage controversy........

Maybe if I took yoga to get more flexible I could.

So we are cultivating a group of people, who although pursue a related purpose, are just a bubble off from ripping each other a new one?

And we look so much like a friendly group.

Man! You have got to start expressing yourself correctly!

Your original aim to "have this trailer built in less than a year from now" seems to be right on schedule by what you're saying - where you're going wrong is in putting actual dates to general concepts like 'now, or 'a year from now'......

Only problem with being done is you then find yourself without a goal and determination.
So what to do?
Start planning the next one.
