So we are cultivating a group of people, who although pursue a related purpose, are just a bubble off from ripping each other a new one?

And we look so much like a friendly group.

I think that about sums it up Tony, Just watch out for those people that are only a half a bubble off.

Only problem with being done is you then find yourself without a goal and determination.
So what to do?

Lets see............finish the shelves etc in the new shed.......finish painting the shop.........finish painting the shutters for the house...........tear down the "hurricane fence" that got torn up in "hurricane Rita"..........build the new picket fence that Connie wants to put with the new shed........move all the dog porch and cover to behind the new shed and away from our back porch.........help Connie build new flower beds to go with the new shed............paint the front porch........and I'm sure there are a coiple of things I'm fergettin..........oh, and go to the October gathering........ dang.......now I'm tired.........I think we need to take a weekend off and go camping to rest  ........yeah, thats the idea!!! too hot to work right now..........take a brake till about November when its nice and cool :relaxing:

Start planning the next one.

Yaa but... I started doing that right in the middle of the fist one and the "goal & determination" up and switched to the second one...

According to what I see in your avatar, you don't need a thumb to open a beer bottle, thus I must presume, logically and yet inferencially, that the third difference that you for some reason are reluctant to reveal, is that you can drink your beer lying down? :?

I understood. I wonder if they know what they are fighting over. But if they would just build teardrops and run a charge wire from their alternator to charge the battery to 100% . . . oops! I set off the Katushka rockets again!

I guess teardrop time is easier to understand than formulating whirled peas.

I don't know what the numbers are for tears...but as I recall, in Wooden Boat or Boat Builders magazine...typically 70% of the craft that get started by home builders, never see the water....what's tough is the hull stays bolted in a frame on the floor till you get it done and can turn it......tough with a 16 footer, let alone the larger ones, got plans for a 24' cabin cruiser.....by those standards, a tear is a lot easier..at least it's on a frame you can wheel around...like any large undertaking...your timeline is determined by the amount of time you can dedicate to the project and your pocketbook...it's all up to everyone here how fast or slow they build...but unlike a boat...here the design/options may change daily...just keep doing what you are doing...it'll all come together, you know if you can put more time into it or not...but when it's done...that's what you want to shoot for....it's wayyyyy fun, good luck everyone... Doug

Don't want to scare the new builders--the seasoned vets understand the time commitment as do I. I just wake each day a step closer to enlightenment at my complete and total disconnect when it comes to judging how quickly I can complete a project. Over a year to build a boat, home repair projects that are ongoing . . .car repairs that seemed to last forever. And I won't go into the amount of time it has taken to build my self esteem. Thought that one would be quicker.

To put my build in real time perspective, first, my shop is 60 miles away, so I only get to work on the weekends, and only til about 2 on Sunday. since last June, I know there have been about a dozen weekends that I didn't go to the shop, and several days when building and painting the frame that were delayed by rain (that was a long time ago!) So, 14 months works out to 60 weekends, less plus or minus a dozen weekends makes it 48 weekends. At an average of 1-3/4 days per weekend, that brings the build to 84 days. I have about 14 days before the LCG, and I will be mostly done by then. That makes it 98 days, so a little over three months of work. Not bad for this type of project. Especially when I have recut the doors three times, remade molding, spent hours and hours staring at the thing. But in my feeble mind, as I do on every project, when I started in June of last year, I thought I would be finished by fall. See what I mean? Maybe next time I will resort to drawing up or using a set of plans with dimensions.

And I still haven't figured out where I am going to mount the damn hottub.

I started the Escape Pod 2 years ago this month. Have had NO time to work on it for the last couple of months and very little chance of finding time for it for the next 3 months. If this is a "race" I am not doing to well...................

I'll bet that there is a direct relationship between length and completion precentage.

Tell me about it, my next project (or re-projected) is to pull the trans out of my rice burner so that I can save a little money on gas. The trailer is taking up valuable garage space. At least now I can leave it outside without fear of rain (not like I've seen rain for a month and a half now). And don't forget about the grass that doesn't stop growing so you can catch up on your projects.

So they say that it will take "A Month of Sundays" to build, you can correct them and say that it took two.

I'll bet it's not linear though. The larger the boat, the more complex the systems & cabinetry.
