Wow! Thanks for the kudos, everyone! Without this forum and your collective help and encouragement, none of it would've been possible.

MJ - My "inspector" thinks the trailer is pretty cool now, but when I've spent what he considers too much time on it, has uttered phrases such as "Do you love the teardrop more than me?", or "Trailer builders neglect their children". No, you don't need to send the DCFS to our house - he thinks he's being neglected if he is only getting 98% of my attention, rather than 100%.

Tony - From the beginning of this project I'd been thinking of using Uniflex paint for the exterior, but now I can't bear the thought of covering the wood, so am scheming up trim ideas to hide my sins (screw holes and glue smears) and use CPES with something over the top for UV.

Doug - Thanks, since I consider your work to be the high standard against which all others are measured!

Duane - If I can do this, anybody can, as long as you have the determination to do so. It doesn't take special tools or skills (since I certainly didn't have them!) For me, however, it did take an exorbitant amount of planning. 8)

M Olsen - I don't think we'll be able to make it up to Idaho for your event this year, but thanks for the invitation! The last time we were up to Redfish Lake was on our honeymoon, 21 years ago!

Julie - I'll have to admit that I've been jealous looking at your pics, too (back in the days of my trailer being 2D and yours being 3D!) Keep at it and we'll both get 'em done eventually!

Teresa - And I hope to see your trailer someday, too! (And yours, too, Sunny!) I'm sure we'll all finally meet one of these days!

Again, I appreciate everyones' congrats (especially all of you whose builds I've watched and admired - Bledsoe, Sonetpro, etc, etc) Thanks!

Jeanette

PS - now I gotta get back to work in the garage and finish this thing! I'm trying to beat the snow so I can vacate the garage (ie, my workshop) and get the car back in there so I don't have to shovel it off and scrape windows every morning! But then I have to put my teardrop out in the elements!!! Aaaarrgh!

I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep it going and get it "CAMPABLE" As you know you'll never really get it "DONE" There will always be some tweak or change that you will think of. I got mine "CAMPABLE' and so far have put on close to 1500 miles.

Great Job.................

Jeanette,
Really nice work. The straps to pull up the table top are a great idea. Very, very nice.

Jeannette,

You're doing a FANTASTIC job on your TD. The women on this forum are kicking some serious butt lately.

I used white Uniflex on my tear. It's durable and provides a good seal. That's the good part. The bad part is that the stuff is a dirt magnet. It soils easily and is very difficult to get completely clean.

Looks Great! :applause: The table, the bunk, the entire project!

Maybe one of those "portable" garages to store it in the winter.

Wow! It looks great! I love the color of the wood, did you stain it or just finish it? Good job.

Thanks again, everyone! The encouragement from this group is phenomenal!

Bruce - The wood is baltic birch (the lightest stuff I could find) finished with Clear Satin Minwax Polyurethane. There are 3 coats on the walls and ceiling and 5 coats on the floor and table. Thanks for the inspiration on the table and footwell! From the first time I saw a picture of yours, I thought that's what I wanted.

Loader - I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet for the winter. Remember we get tons of snow, and I'm already planning on shoveling off the teardrop roof. My current thought is to get a custom cover made, like out of canvas duck.

Tom - The dirt magnet thing about Uniflex is one of the reasons I finally decided to go with the woody look. Probably the biggest reason, though, is that I just really love the look of wood.

Peggy - If you look closely at my avatar (or the bigger version of the same pic in my album) you'll see a hole at the end of the bunk on the driver's side. This is for the future when my son is longer than 5'. It'll be a small door that swings up and a little box will attach in its place for his feet to stick through! Now, we may never use that feature since by the time he's that tall he may not want to be anywhere near his parents, so I conveniently sized the hole to be the same as one of Grant's 18"x15" crank out windows, which is what I'm also putting in the doors. My son already wants to use the little door as his secret escape route :)

Scott - I decided to do the straps because I didn't want to drill finger holes through the table.

Bill - Campable, yup, that's what I'm shooting for!

I appreciate everyone's comments! This whole project has been a blast. I can hardly wait to camp in it!

Jeanette

PS - Back to the garage now, trying to get the wiring and ceiling insulation done tonight and hopefully put on the roof tomorrow!

No doubt you've seen Roly's build.

Get a combo-bit and a plug cutter, and plug all your holes, sand them flush, and you're ready for CPES and Spar Urethane.

Jeanette, your doing a great job. You've done your home work well. What you'll need to do when it's finished is something like what Roly did. Build a nice simple little garage for it.

Have a good day and keep up the good work.
