celebrity thread #2

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby dahoon » Thu Aug 24, 2006 11:32 pm

Only the baby boomers of the Seattle area will recognize this one!

My moms cousin is Stan Boreson. A well known tv celeb of kids shows and other stuff.

oh yea, I sat in on a class taught by the cousin of Wil Ryker, the Captain Number One on Star Trek.

Ouch, pulled a muscle on that stretch.

Mike

p.s.-I heard once that an individual is within a six person chain of knowing everyone else.

I think so...my 17 and 19 year old daughter's manage to make the police blotter in the Juneau Empire newspaper every so often. Of course, the 17 year old goes under the stage name of "A minor was...."

Mike...I can't believe you posted that one on Stan Boresen..because of him, my mother made me play the accordion....we were even in a Marching band in the West Seattle Hi-U parade back in the early 60's....man I hated that squeeze box....and if you were a boomer kid in Seattle....I was on Brakeman Bills TV show with Crazy Donkey...as a cub scout...mom was mad as I was staring at the HO train layout in the background the whole time....Doug

If you're into the Seattle jazz scene, Barney McClure is my cousin, though I haven't seen him since I was a little kid. Me darlin' Kate is a celebrity of sorts among watercolor artists, naturalists and buckskinners. And small world that it is, her late husband, Harris "Sleepy" Johnson (a sax player) and my cousin certainly played with some of the same people, and may have even played together at some point.

Finally, no relation, but I knew Scatman Caruthers very briefly - he had a gig at the San Clemente Inn when I lived there. Nice guy.

Only old New Yorkers like me would know this one:

My second cousin was Jack Specter--he was a disc jockey on a popular radio show during WMCA's "Good Guys" era in the 1960s.

He dropped dead at the console in the 1980s working for a tiny station on Long Island (WHLI) that played music from the THIRTIES. (What a depresssing way to go. I'm sure it was the music that killed him.)

That's about it, except for my Grandpa Isaac. He was well known around Brooklyn because he had a rag cart (bought and sold rags)--and he aways bought blind horses because they were cheaper.
Here we go again!

My grandfather's second cousin was Ty Cobb. Some folks might remember him.

Years ago my mom worked for a couple in a print shop, Marv and Ruth Curtis. They had a BBQ at their house one summer. Ispelled my dad from cooking oysters when their son walked and took some oysters, we talked for quite awhile. His name is Barry Curtis, the guitarist for the Kingsmen who sang Louie-Louie.

Sorry, about the accordian memories Doug. Your mind will be fine once the cob webs and dust settles.

Who out there is related to a celebrity?
<snip>

The above quote is what this thread is suppose to be about. Talk about going slightly off topic and nothing being said. Oh, I know. I'm not the one who took it kind of off topic. Must be something like a double standard maybe.

Have a good day.

Yep, your right.
