Pluto outrage

They've done it again!!!

We are hit so often with revisionist history--now it is revisionist astronomy.

In case you aren't aware, an august (pun intended) group of astronomers meeting in Prague yesterday voted to change the definition of a planet, and Pluto is out! What damage this must have done to its self-esteem. And think of all the other little asteroids that now know they can never aspire to being called a planet. They even went so far as to classifying Pluto as a "dwarf" planet. How insensitive. They could have at least said it was a planet that is size challenged.

This revisionist foothold is a danger to us all. Pretty soon nothing will be safe from change, and what you knew yesterday will be wrong today. Up will be down, in will be out, bad of course is already good. Watch out! Some group will say what we are building is not a trailer because it is too small. Somebody call my trailer a dwarf trailer and I'm letting the air out of their tires, if you know what I mean.

And pretty soon they will say that Earth is not a defined as a planet because it doesn't support any intelligent life! Now is the time to write your local astronomer to protest. Stand up for Pluto!

I agree totally...poor old Pluto...even if THEY redefined the definition of what a planet is, shouldn't Pluto which has been defined as a planet for nearly 100years be grandfathered in...I mean with all we hear about self-esteem these days, doesn't that make sense...the next time you goto your local astronomer to get your palm or tea leave or chicken entrail read...give 'em a piece of your mind ......

I got home yesterday and had to rip that little planet off my son's solar system model. He was quite upset, that was his favorite planet; sorry dwarf planet. But I prefer to call it a planette. I did keep that little sucker in case they change their minds... again.

At least they waited until Pluto's discover (Clyde Tombaugh) died in '1997' before that took his planet away. It's very tiny and even with the big telescope I sometimes take to the Sierra's it can't be found at least to my eyes.

I just about couldn't get out of bed this morning because of that distressing news...does anyone know of a help line or some sort of counseling service to deal with this...and PS, I'd like the Govt. to pay for it.... and now is the time to start sucking up all the Pluto memorablia you can get your hands on...both pieces of it...a hat and a mug....or better yet...start making them!!! I don't understand something...
If Pluto isn't a planet anymore, then why are they now calling it a dwarf planet?
Isn't a planet a planet?
Are dwarfs not people?!!!
(Just wait 'til the dwarf population finds out about this one...)
I read about the DQ reason... Having an elliptical orbit and where it crosses paths with another planet's orbit, but come on!

And maybe those astronomers did miss too many meetings and did hoist too many at the pub and heard that Iran was trying to enrich Plutonium and decided "We know a way to stop that!"
