Well... I'm glad you did, 'cause I learned something.
I've got a new index page up for the next IRG and I reworked the sub-silver scheme on Nanny's Niche'... Wanted to try forest and camping colors. Even made a few Swooshdrop buttons. (Take a look see and let me know what you think...)

The gradients look a bit odd, but that may just be this computer. I do like the new buttons though.

I've got it pretty much on the brown side of things now... just gotta go in and change all icon images over to brown tint now.

Hmmm... Seems like the masses have spoken, all two of you.
OK... I got some green back in there, to keep the forest and camping theme going.
I sure wish I knew more about this stuff... My latest attempt at posting an image has caused an odd restult.
I wanted to put a thin brown border around the IRG 2.0 logo and the end result makes the yellow border around the letters look like a bad stitch job. :?

Hey bg,
About those odd looking gradiants... Should I have saved them as solid? (I saved them as dithered)

Not sure what you used to make that but it shouldn't matter much I wouldn't think. I'd say it has more to do with the original size maybe?? Did you shrink it/stretch it? Did you outline that freehand or did the program do it?

I got this in PI real quick

BTW It looks much better with the green back in there.

When I veiw the uploaded version of it in the bg's contol panel, it looks fine... but the end result on the web looks like that... I dunno, I'm sure it's something I did.

Don't take this as gospel or even a solution cause I really don't spend a lot of time picking apart forum code, but, being as that is saved as a .gif file you may need to define the size of the picture in your code...ie width="200" height="125". It's possible that the page is trying to pull it apart. I have had to us sizes fo som of my images on my sites to make them look right.

You could make a duplicate of the original and merge that one and save it as a .jpg and see if that one works any better.

Just a suggestion from the masses. 8) 8)

A suggestion from one of the masses... or half of the masses. ;)

Thanks Rich,
I'll look at the html and see if I can figure out how to specify a size with code... :frustrated:

All I can say is try it and see. Been far too long since I messed with it much.

The gradient below topics/posts/last post is far easier on my eyes. (and looks right)

bg,
That gradient file, which you say looks good, is saved in the subsilver template as a .jpeg at full size.
The other two gradient files, which were lookin' pretty bad, are saved as .gif files and the images are just slivers of what's dispalyed on the forum screen.
On my end, I've discovered that my funky little drawing program doesn't work well with .gif files... it either dithers them real bad or makes them solid, which can be bad too. (The program tells me I'm limited to 216 colors or some such nonesense)
So... I've made the two .gif gradient files single colors.
