faucet water pump question

I need to start thinking about the delivery system used go get h2o to the kitchen faucet from the 5 gal plastic kerosene can I purchased for a water tank. I chose kerosene can over the gas can because of the color, blue. Hand pump and 12 volt, any advice and purchase sources?

I have a hand operated pump from JC Whitney...I'm replacing it! It takes a long time to get it primed, very slow to fill anything..it finally broke after three outings..I can't reccomend one I'm gonna get a 12volt unit and move the tank(I'm getting a 6 gallon rv tank) from the cabinet to under the rear section of the trailer. More cabinet space, better waterworks..

Another thing I just thought about looking at Steve’s photo, my water tank is on the left, sink on the right and will be sliding out. I need to pump water 7 or 8 feet???

Shurflo makes demand pumps @12 vdc for potable water systems. I got mine from West Marine www.westmarine.com It works only when to water is turned on,with the demand switch built in, when water is off it builds pressure and turns off and waits for the next use. I wired mine with an on/off switch for traveling and when hooked up to water from external source since it doesn't need to run at all. They are self priming as well.

Thanks for the info, I went to West Marine and took a look at the pump. ? is, do you think it would pump water 7 or 8 feet and am I right in thinking that any faucet from the home depot will work

Slightly off topic, but I was thinking about getting one of these:

until I noticed that the local grocery store carries those 5gal bottles of water for ~$5. That seems like such a better option than filling up a jug in the sink since you'd have filtered water and you can just pick it up at the store when you get ice and food.

Only downside is that it's so much wider.

I don't have a drain, The "sink" is actually, a stainless bowl from Walmart..$3. To "drain", remove and toss!..The water, that is!
When I update the tank, I'll update the sink with a drain to a greywater tank on the ground under the trailer,or maybe under the trailer next to the water tank?? Got me thinking, Uh Oh :idea: :idea:

Pump should be the easiest choice, less to mess with and takes up less space. I have a large trailer so I am putting in electric but how large is yours? bye

I have no problem with my pump setup. I think the pump cost $70 -$80. I was worry about the faucet as well. I ended up using the water filter type faucet, the skinny goose neck one with the push down lever, they sell at home depot for $19. It works fine and it does not allow alot of water to flow, unlike a regular faucet. If you look at the rating 1.3gallon/p/minute @45 psi. It will work fine. You should have no problem pumping the distance you mention. Like I said before I mounted mine for tank use and external water use. By installing a cutoff switch for travel and when hookuped to a external water source the water flow is unimpeded with the pump in line and "off"

Go to Walmart, the container like Steve's cost around $6.00 all day long there. And it is for potable water, I have two and they work great

I originally thought about using the aquatainer, but noticed that a lot of the reviews on it said the same thing; they wear out very quickly. They have a newer 7gallon version that's shaped like a gas can that I'd prefer since my cabinets are 18" deep and I can just lay it on its side to save space horizontally.

I've had 2 for 3 years, the only problem I have is the that the screw on top is cracked on one of them. Probably because someone, maybe me was trying to orient the spogit so it points down.
