WHAT? And miss all the fun? Back in the 60s and 70s, we'd just have a hurricane party and invite a bunch of friends to ride it out. With lots of beer of course.

Charley showed up in the wee hours of the morning like this is supposed to. I was up before dawn with my video camera, but all I got was the sound until daylight.

(Anyone know the size off-hand?)

Don't know if you took care of this already but some of the "Marine" coolers use the same fitting as a garden hose. That is so you can hook a hose up to it to drain. You might be able to try one of those caps for a garden hose.

Just dropped my parents off at the airport. They are headed back to Florida.

My latest Weatherbug tracker shows it now to hit a little further east than earlier todsy. And, it shows it curving east sooner, leaving the state around Daytona instead of St. Augustine. I'm hoping it continues the eastward movement and misses us entirely, but that probably won't happen.

It looks like this thing is going to spend more time over land. Hopefully, that will keep it from strengthening.

I would think that the forecasters would get their acts together. The track above is what I have in my Weatherbug. Last night, on the weather channel on TV, they were showing a track that had it going west of Florida and turning in at Tampa, then continuing overland into east Georgia. Actually, they could all be wrong. It could just die out...probably not. But like Woody says, we're used to them and to me, it's no big deal (YET). If it intensifies to 100 MPH and comes right at me, it may become a big deal!!!

even with all of the "modern" forecasting equipment of today its still hard to predict where its gonna hit.
Who remembers the old maps that the TV guys used to use? Big magnetic boards with big letters like "L" and "H" that they used to stick on there?
They didnt have "super duper doppler 9 hundred thousand million" like they do now or many satellites from which to gather images.
How did they ever predict where the hurricane would hit back then?

Just like they do now. There are several hi-tech methods:

- Throw darts at the map.
- Lick finger and hold it up to see which way the wind's blowing.
- Check to see if any flocks of birds are remaining, or which way they're heading.
- And, finally, the good old SWAG (Scientific Wise A$$ Guess).

GREAT NEWS!!!

Since Labor Day is coming up, 24-pack bottles of Budweiser were only $13.50!!!

I picked up three cases last night, along with steaks, ribs, chicken wings, and some produce.

Because if I lose power again, I ain't eating no stinkin' canned tuna fish.

(And Rocky--this cap is tiny. Looks like 1/4".)
Here we go again!
