T SHIRTS...originally Charles Ipes was going to bring a silk screen set-up to the park and have folks bring their own “T”s to screen. He was going to do this for free but instead of the 15-20 folks we hoped to have attend, we are now looking at 50-60+. Sooooooo, the time required has rendered this option non-viable. Instead, he is going to screen the shirts ahead of time...this should give us a better silk screen...he has decided that he will buy and screen the shirts, out of his pocket and bring them to Lake Bistineau, where they will be available for 10 bucks a shirt. What we need to know from all of you are what sizes/numbers of shirts you would want...he will have extras but would like to keep the numbers in line with what would be wanted/needed...so let me know what you want and in what sizes
We will have a large banner w/LOGO for everyone to sign but we were also going to have some small flags w/LOGO made up for everyone but once again the numbers have risen to the point where this is not affordable...so does anyone want a flag??? These would be in the 12x16 inch range...I don’t presently have a price on them but they would be reasonable...let me know and if there is enough interest/demand I will get a price and let ya know
FOOD...GOOD CAJUN COOKIN’...we will have a knock your socks off GUMBO...chicken/sausage/seafood gumbo prepared for EVERYONE on Friday evening, so that when you arrive at the park, you will not have to cook...just set up your campsite, sit back, eat and enjoy.
Saturday, we are planning on cooking up a shrimp ‘etoufee...once again, this will basically feed everyone...everyone is invited to bring side dishes such as salads, breads and deserts instead of the regular pot luck fare...these two meals are made possible by the generous donation of time and ingredients by a few individuals who will be mentioned at the group meal Saturday night.
FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT....That is what this is all about!!!!!!
Friday...set up your campsite, eat and enjoy a campfire with new and old friends.
Saturday...we will have a Halloween decorating contest, so I hope all will join in...a trophy will be awarded...Peoples Choice, for favorite tear...a trophy will be awarded...Furthest Traveled to Attend...a trophy will be awarded.
The CG rents canoes, kayaks and jon boats and there is an 11mi marked trail thru the Cypress trees in the lake...if there is an interest in this let me know and I will check with the CG and see if we can get a group rate on rentals...fishing for crappie and bass can be done from the available fishing docks in the CG or from boats for anyone interested.
If anyone is interested, there are Riverboat Casinos in Bossier City about 20 miles away and there is a video poker casino just a couple of miles from the CG.
Saturday night, we will have shrimp ‘etoufee for supper and award trophies, then it time to gather around the fire for some fun and story telling...TonyJ has a killer marguerita machine for all who are interested in imbibing some adult beverage.
Paul(aka Jolly Roger) will be shooting a video for all who are interested to appear in. Paul is also a “professional” Ghost Hunter and has offered to lead a “ghost hunt” Saturday night for all who may be interested in ghosts, haints and things that go bump in the night...it is Halloween weekend after all and I hear he is pretty good at it.
I ask and encourage anyone who can, to bring all the firewood you can so that we can keep the ghosts and gators at bay and don’t haveta buy any locally. I may be asking for folks to bring additional items as we see how everything plays out...things such as large disposable bowls, soup spoons, crackers, folding tables...anyone who plays acoustical music, is encouraged to bring their instruments.
I will post any further info I have here, let me know about shirts and stuff...
Folks, we are hoping to show y’all some real down home Louisiana hospitality...if anyone is even remotely contemplating attending, I strongly encourage you to do so as this will be a memorable gathering that will be talked about for a long time to come...there are still plenty of campsites left and reservations can be made at http://ra1.reserveamerica.com/index.jsp
