Hey, at least the guy didn't stick a plunger up a Haitian's rear end like the cops in New York did, mainly because he was Haitian.

And oh--he was 100% innocent.
Here we go again!

Police said Mr. Givens is known to them.

Additional charges and an arrest warrant are being sought for him today at Westboro District Court.

I agree Tom this has Barney Fife written all over this story. The punch line for me was that "Mr. Givens is known to them". I got a chuckle out of it and can imagine when the KNOWN Mr. Givens gets caught he will have a stern talking to by Barney, now don't ya know? :D

Apparently, that's one of the crimes he'll be charged with when they catch him... again. According to this follow up story in today's paper, this guy bolted out the front door of the police station just as the cops realized they made a mistake.

Escape

Postby caryeastwood » Thu Sep 07, 2006 9:18 am

At least here in California (where I worked as a Correctional Officer at a county jail for 6 1/2 years) the person doing the release asks the inmate what their name is and they sign several forms stating that that is them. If the inmate lies, or has a resonable expication they should not be released (waiting for trial for a murder charge, etc), and they make it out, it is escape without violence. Also, depending on who is doing the release, lying to a peace officer.

Luckly, that never happened to me :)

Tom:

Well I learned a new word and I have a question still?

The word is Surety
1. security against loss or damage or for the fulfillment of an obligation, the payment of a debt, etc.; a pledge, guaranty, or bond.
2. a person who has made himself or herself responsible for another, as a sponsor, godparent, or bondsman.

Now for the question: They let him out after giving him the mans personal belonging that he was impersonating. Does that mean the other guys wallet and cards and money? Can imagine the other guy is uPset that his stuff was handed out by Barney? Who is responsible to get that stuff back and protect his credit rating... ? Can imagine Barney asking for the stuff back.
 8) :D 8)

Oh, caryeastwood

Looks as though Barney did get his signature like your team
and he bolted and escaped without violence. Also, lying
to a peace officer seems to fit. 8)
