Old cars . . . .

Postby rooster » Thu Sep 07, 2006 8:41 pm

Those were the days . . . . I owned a 1947 Chevrolet Stylemaster coupe, oh, to have back now since I have a teardrop.

Doug, I learned to drive in my folks 1959 Rambler station wagon very much like yours. It was green with a very light (almost white) green stripe. I snapped the axle one day while taking off from a stop sign, not my fault though. My brother & I would sleep in the back on trips to all the National Parks and sneak out at night to drink soda pops (not allowed) while the folks were in the motel with the little brother. The folks also had one of those fugly Rambler 2 door upside down bath tubs in light blue. Remember those? They could take a leg off if the door closed while getting out. :) Danny

Danny...thanks for the story....I used to sit in the back seat of the 57 Ford Station Wagon...dad was a Ford man...hang my arm out the window and thump the side of the car like there was something in the tire, they worried more about tires back then...he'd go slower, I'd slow up...he'd go faster so would I...next thing I knew, I got thumped by the arm in the font seat...we did laugh about it later in life...much later, after I recovered, I think I was about 40...  Doug

I really feel sorry for the kids and young adults around here nowadays...if they even THOUGHT, about doing or even going where we used to, they would get put under the jail...back in the day, you didn't even see a cop out in the woods...now they have special "wood" patrols...they go and patrol where we used to just hangout drink beer and try and get laid...it's a shame....heck, even if we got caught doing something we weren't supposed to be doing they would just tell us to behave ourselves and go home
