Of course, but seriously... if I'm trying to make it to the first campout, about three hours away and it may or may not rain, then what will I absolutely have to have done? Of course, battery secured and trailer lights hooked up.

I have the ribs ready and should be doing the hatch this week but don't know if it will be skinned. *** If my hatch is not completely done, and I don't have my hurricane hinge yet then can I strap it tightly in place or just leave it home?

The interior skin is on, one porch light hooked up, and the a/c should be ready (drain and all). I might just leave it home if the temps are looking cooler (today's high is only mid 80s!) Or I could just put it in the trunk of the car for travel.

I have the countertops already secured and the cabin shelf, the spars are on and my neighbor is going to get my roof materials tonite or tomorrow . So the roof will be going on this weekend.

I have the doors done, with windows in. Door handle/latch openings are cut and tight fitting . I have the hinge and some of the door trim and don't know if I'll get those done this weekend. *** Would it be okay to temporarily hang the door on the hinge with some cheap weatherstrip and just duck tape them shut at night !????? hahahah!!!

No seriously.... I'm ready to get this thing done but $> and :sweaty: and :frustrated: lately..... oh and :duh: teenagers and life in general......

So I'm ready to :ilovecamp: :Flippin Burger: :campfire: :guzzle: :relaxing:

:( Julie,
Don't take a chance with it now. I may have to tent too. I would sure hate to miss meeting everyone again. I don't even have doors and my help is no where to be found.

I don't have a hinge either so I considered making it semi-permanant. Maybe we could put the weather striping on and the roof as if it didn't have a hinge, then cut it away later.

I'm with Rob, if I put up a different hinge it will stay untill I don't have a choice.

Good luck

My $.02 worth? It's not worth the risk to see it ruined before it's finnished. Wait until it's ready. The experience of using it for the first time will be greatly enhanced.

Something like peeking at your Christmas presents before Christmas. When you get to open them Christmas morning..... well, it's not the same. :(

P.S. I could use another analogy with girlfriend, marriage, wife and wedding night..... but I think you get the picture with the first one.....

I say get it "CAMPABLE" My first outing with the Moose was with the hatch duct taped on and a tarp covering it. Like Chip said make sure you are weather tight and go for it. These things never really get done - one is always tweaking this or changing this. If you are a few hours away make sure nothing will fall off or out and go for it.

The big thing is - Have fun.

Julie, When I went to the IRG, I had two screws and a bungie cord holding my hatch on. I also had a big tarp and extra bungies incase of rain. It'll be the same this weekend when we camp, only a better chance of rail this time.

OKJewels,

I'm with BillyL and Bledsoe3 on this one. Take care of function and do form later (Get her campable and don't worry about cosmetics right now.) There will be plenty of time for that. Duct tape works and looks good if tastefully done.. Carry lots of it with you.

Put your shoulder to the wheel and push it! :applause:

Y'all crack me up !!! hahah

As a matter of fact,I'm going to take 1/2 the day off work today, got the 1/8" roof material yesterday and will be cutting that.

We'll see ....we'll see....

There's another option in the works, and I know I won't melt in the rain just don't want to plan on tent camping with a 40% chance of rain . This last weekend was rain and misty all the time.

My nose is to the grind stone. If I do take it, I'll make sure the roof is on and primed.

We'll see.....we'll see...

Julie-

just make sure you pick a nice tarp to bring. I covered my hatch with a very nice CAMO tarp

Just make sure the TD is sound (nothing is going to fall off during the drive) and it will keep you dry. Nothing like waking up with wet feet............

Yeah, secure..... and tarp or tarps....
The weather is looking better for that weekend - yea!!!

I'm changing gears and going to concentrate on roof
then put the Bondo on the screws and holes in sides, and sand and prime good. Then might get the doors hung at least. The galley hatch??? hmmm dunno...

This is a rush... we'll see if my borrow option comes to fruition too... then I don't have to rush rush and such !!!

Like Todah said, don't forget the duct tape. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH TAPE. As a matter a fact I better pack another roll I just found out that Max is going with us.

Julie...the whole thing comes down to the last minute, and you are the only one to decide...some duct tape will seal it up, depending on how far you get...and I know how you want to show off what you have done...who wouldn't? Just use your best judgement, if it were me...I'd go with it...duct tape stickum will clean off pretty easily, and what a great opportunity to learn to set up a butt load of tarps...besides it'll make a good story in the future, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of people there to help you out...Teardroppers are a good bunch of folks, and you will probably get a lot of info from the others since you have the project right there for them to look at....just my thoughts, opinions may vary...Doug

"Tarpology", I like that ;).

If you don't mind Madjack, I am going to add that to my vocabulary. Now, I'll need to drop it into my discussions today to make it stick and to lay a foundation for it to become a common term here in the workplace.
