VW Tow Bar

Man, its been a while since ive last posted...works been keeping me busy, but life is good....

So getting back to some planning, found this VW tow bar (for bugs) that might be a nice relatively cheap tow bar to incorporate into a DIY welded frame...take a gander...

They offer 1-7/8" and 2" hitch versions, anyhoo just thought id pass this along...comments?

Couplers are only $10- $20 depending on what size you get and where you get them. I don't really see any advantage in using the tow bar, unless you already have one. Even then, making a normal tounge is pretty easy, I would think that by the time you modify the tow bar, you would have a lot more work into it.

I happen to have one for my VW based Dune Buggy and it is not very practical for adapting to a teardrop.... You can buy a really good piece of steel for tongue and a new coupler for about half the price of the VW tow bar...
