Woody...need info on your 1st TD construction please...

I am going to go with a 4' X 10' as you did and I also saw your cool storage system using "under the floor" space. Any info on the storage would be great!! :) I was planning on framing in several of the HF trailer joist areas for storage after seeing your pics in the Yahoo album. Tips, additional pics of the underside? Etc? Additional pics of the galley, inside of the sleeping quarters? :)

All I did was determine the location of the cross bars in the trailer frame and went from there. 40"l x 18"w x 10"d on my trailer thats what fit. I framed out the opening in the plywood sandwiched floor and built the storage box (1/2" plywood) and installed the box into the frame in the wooden floor. I installed 2" x 2" blocks in the corners and the same for the lip the hatch sets in. The underside I wrapped in sheet metal for protection from road hazards, it might have been overkill. It did help in sealing the plywood box shell. I wish I would have done the same to the galley floor inside the cabinet area with the recessed area. It would have helped with some more storage. Between the battery packs and the A/C and sink there is not alot of room for storage back there.I am thinking though under the trailer I have space to do and access from out side with the door hidden behind the bumper. Also I would make them deeper by 4 inches due to my ground clearence from using a 3500# straight axle with springs. I am working on replacing the pictures I had lost due to a harddrive failure in which I had lost some of the construction pictures. About the pictures anything that in particular wanted to see?

Basicly "additional pics of the underside? Etc? Additional pics of the galley, inside of the sleeping quarters?"

I will have to figure out how I space everything and since yours is similar, should get a general idea. :)

Woody,
Are those boat access hatches you have for your airconditioning vents? Are they 4"? If so, what a great idea - consider me stealing it. :)

I have alot of marine hardware on it. The one on the side of the trailer near the rear is a 4" marine screw in hatch/access cover for the A/C hot exhuast vent. I used it for sealing the exhuast when on the road or storage.

Excellent, thanks. I had been thinking of how I was going to vent my camper as I don't want to install a top mounted vent. It never occured to me to use inspection ports. Wonderful idea for the AC venting as well.

Steve,

If you look at my interior picture of my A/C, to the right you will see to smaller white fluted vent that also vents the cabin into the galley which in turn gets sucked out by the exhuast of the A/C to the outside. I did not want the problem of a roof leak so I used a different system to exchange the air in the cabin
