I like the house you chose for the exterior style... very nice indeed. As for Hardy shingles... Have you checked into Hardy 7-1/4" lap siding? Around here it goes for about 60 cents a sq. ft. or $4.50 a 12' strip. It would prolly look about as good as the shingles once painted. The stone work would be the pricy thing... but worth it, in my book. I like the color scheme a lot too. Looks like you have a great house in the works. :thumbsup:

Teresa, I tend to prefer the second house over the first. I like the more craftsman style look that the second house has. I also like the dry-stack (?) rock look over the rocks used in the first house. Of course this is all just my aesthetic opinion. BTW, this guy on my block has been doing a major remodel on his house, and he is doing a dry-stack rock look on the front of the house, only half way up. He is doing the rest in Hardy lap board, and it looks absolutely fantastic, imho.

I haven't checked out the hardie siding. I figured it would be about the same as the shingles. I'll have to call on that. Amy, my husband likes the second house too, although it's colors are going to be a lot more difficult to match.

Rock = $24/sqft
Stucco = $2.85/sqft
Hardie Staggered Shingles painted = $7.50/sqft

Both are very nice! I don't think you could go wrong with either choice. If I had to pick.................I vote for the first one.

Teresa,

Wow! I like them both But if I just had to choose I would choose #1. That may be due to the landscaping though. Love them both.

Have fun!

Unfortunatly our house is moving at a snails pace. And the teardrop too. I'm so bummed. My husbands job has been hectic and he wrecked his dump truck, so the last month we have been in slow motion. Hopefully we will be ready for our four-way inspection next week. All we have left is a little framing inside around the fireplace. We did finally get the doors delivered. I'll post some pics when we get them installed. This weekend I assume.
