Being a newbie, I have been looking at the various kits that companies offer. I thought it might be better to start with a kit than build one from scratch. Can anyone offer any advise

my advice...if you have the skills to asemble a kit, you have the skills to build from scratch...build from scratch and you can build exactly what you want...there are plenty of folks here who had minimal skills at best and have turned out some fine tears...and the feeling of accomplishment and the confidence instilled is priceless......that is my advice...you did ask....

The only "Kit" teardrop I'm aware of is the one offered by the Teardrop fix it shop.

thanks for all the replies. After consideration I think I will start from scratch. this way I can put in what I want and make it my own. :thumbsup:

Hey Mobile Camper,

I looked at kits too because I had silch when it came to wood working experience. Thanks to a good friend who's retired and helping me I've learned tons of stuff along the way.

I think you are making a good call starting from scratch.

Experience..... Nooooo Sirrrr.. None to speak of... Its been long in the making and still going at it...

Believe me sometimes its been stop and then go.. even for simple things that are easy for the pro.. but here on this site are great folks...
that have helped in more ways than one..

Its a great feeling to have gotten this far... so my suggestion is jump right in and make it from scratch.. you,ll feel great... and the pride of having it made yourself is rewarding as many here will tell you..

Mine is coming along at a slow pace but seems like its looking better everyday.. And this is from learning from the folks here...

Go for it.. Build your own if you have the place and time to do so..
Im glad I did...And I still have teardrop fever... :lol:
