Internet TV

Thought those of you on a shoe string like me might like to try this out. I watch HBO and Movie Channel a lot.

Channels are from other countries and may have chicken scratch sub titles if in english. Do not try without a high speed connection.

Must download their viewer but it has worked for me a cpl of months with no problems.

Let me know if you like please

I wonder what you also download onto your PC when you download their viewer? That's a good way to install adware software.

Cracker

I run Adaware programs a lot and always wind up with a few low risk ones. These I get just from surfing the net.

I do keep a good virus program and hide behind firewalls to protect myself.

However I understand if you don't feel comfortable downloading such as this so don't.

I thought hard before posting this and only did it because I enjoy this site and wanted to contribute.

Thanks. I may try it just to see what they have. I'm curious though as to why their web site has this statement:

"The TVU service will premiere later this year. This new service will provide a user experience directly comparable to cable and satellite. It will feature hard-to-find special-interest TV channels, international sports, lifestyle, news, and your favorite channels from around the globe as well as user-generated content. "

That implies that the service isn't officially available now. I wonder if that means that they intend to charge for the service, when "it is available".

Wish I could answer those questions. I just know I been watching for a cpl months and yes they do seem to be adding channels.

Perhaps it is a trial version that they will cut off when they go commercial. I can always ninstall if they do.

For now I just enjoy.

I downloaded it a half hour ago, and still haven't gotten anything to play in the window. I double click on the channels in the left side, but nothing plays. Are the channels available all of the time? All I have in the viewing window is their logo.

It takes a minute or 2 for the channel to load and buffer. Just wait for it

I've left it for a half hour or more, still nothing hapens. Maybe they're asleep, or maybe the new version isn't connected yet. I downloaded the latest, not the old beta version.

I've tried downloading the new version and seeing if there was a problem for me. It worked fine. I then tried do a search for comments regarding TVU. All I found was a brief mention of opening ports. Since this is beyond my comfort zone of telling you what to do I would suggest un-installing and apologise for the trouble you have gone through based on my suggesting this program.

Drew, the link you posted installed an icon on my desktop that brings up a window, but not an internet connection. It has the guide listing but doesn't connect. The link that Nomad posted does connect and display the channels. From there, I can connect and see them. I might find some channels interesting, when I have time to go through them. As it is, I have a TV tuner card in my PC, and have cable internet, so I can watch the basic channels 1-99 on my PC anyway if I wanted to. I just don't have the digital or premium channels connected to my PC. I also have a TV in the same room with the same channels that I could watch while on the PC.
