1. I have five college degrees - two bachelor's, two master's, one doctorate. And all this after I went to college on a football scholarship.

2. My first wife died at 37. About two years after that I went to my 20th high school reunion and re-met the first girl I ever went on a date with (in ninth grade). She was going through a divorce. That's her you see to the left.

3. One of my basset hounds qualified for the Westminster Kennel Club show three times.

I was president of my local churches Altar Boy Society when I was in the 8th grade(really...quit laughing)

...as a result of the above and my Dad being heavily involved in church affairs, I learned to bartend by the time I was 12 so the KofC guys would have someone sober(relatively) to mix drinks for 'em during meetings at the rectory...

I met my future wife when she was 8yrs old when I stopped some bullies from picking on her...35yrs latter I met her again inna bar when I stopped some bullies from picking on her...we have now been married 5 wonderful years...

1. Had Leg Perthese Disease, a crippling condition that affects the hip joint in children.
Was in braces/traction and did extensive physical therapy from the 2nd - 6th grades.
Used to get a kick out of going shopping with my mother...
Polio was still fresh on the minds of many adults and they would go out of their way to avoid coming in contact with me.
They'd stick out like a sore thumb, so I'd go out of my way to "accidently" brush up against them.
OMG... The reactions I used to get.
Missed a lot of sports, but made up for lost time in a hurry.
Played football and was a long distance runner.
Got into cycling and bull riding after high school.
Doc said I'd have arthritis in the hip as an adult and he was right...

2. Spent a good part of my early adult life doing sports photography, mainly shooting race cars.
After years of beating up my equipment at dirt tracks here in the West...
I finally caught my break and reached my goal of shooting the Winston Cup Series.
A few years later I got married and that ended that...

3. After my divorce and trying my hand at match.com, (OMG that was a fiasco) I met Joanie.
She is without a doubt, the best thing that ever happened to me.
Something many here might not know about us...
We went to jr. high and high school together, but lost touch after graduation.
During school, we were in band (Her-sax, me-drums) and her twin brother and I were on the same sports teams.

I am a Star Trek Fan! I traveled to LA Universal Studios just to do the Star Trek Adventure. I got to play the Klingon Captain, and confronted Captain Kirk, but an alien race intervened. Nuge Cha Na Beblo Cha!! (sp??)

I attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, perusing a photography carrier. Decided I didn't want to work at the Mall playing with squeaky toys to make kids smile. So I went to Tech School and became a draftsperson.

I have lived in Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, Winston-Salem, NC and Wilmington, NC. But have always found my way back to P'cola, its home. :)

Wow, these are GREAT. Some of them are really touching, too. So the below are 100% accurate--no joking, even though they may seem a little funny:

1) When I started going to Hebrew school at the age of 7...about 2 hours of Hebrew school every day after regular school ended...I gave the Rabbi money to order my "Tsfillin." Long story on what Tsfillin is, but he stole the money and I never got it. The following year, another Rabbi there stole my TALLIS money.

My mother never believed me, that somehow I MYSELF had done something wrong. And that same year, another Rabbi beat the crap out of me and a few other kids for screwing around in the basement of the temple during Yom Kippur. I even pissed my pants.

8 years old--and this was enough to sour me on religion forever. When I got older and went to college, the facts FURTHER soured me.

2) I was known in Canarsie, Brooklyn as the Jewish Jockey, just because I was born Jewish, I was a shrimp, and worked at Aqueduct and Belmont as an exercise boy, in hopes of becoming a jockey. Upon graduating high school and going at it full-time, reality set in and I realized I didn't have the stuff to make it.

3) I met my wife in Caracas, Venezuela while on vacation there in 1988. She was a native, I met her my first night there, and I proposed on the SECOND night.

She accepted, I kept going back and forth to visit her (from New York), and we finally married on Aug. 4, 1989--meaning we just celebrated our 17th anniversary, with 2 boys showing up along the way.

You just can't make this kind of stuff up, because fact IS usually stranger than fiction.
Here we go again!
