1) I literally grew up in a cabinet shop. My parents owned one when I was a kid. I caught the bus from the shop every day from kindergarten thru 3rd grade until my parents got divorced. I have always sad “woodworking was in my blood” and I have the scars to prove it.

2) I only have 1 kidney. I was born with a malfunctioning kidney & had to have it removed when I was 8. My other kidney is the size of two. It is funny how your body will compensate for things.

3) I love to fish (freshwater only), pheasant hunt & turkey hunt. That is the reason I built my teardrop. I got tired of sleeping in tents or have to rely on some one else for a place to sleep.

4) I collect Hotwheels. I started 4 years ago & I have more than 700 now.

Bonus- I have been married to my wife 14 years as if Sept 19th and I have 2 kids. My daughter is 10 & my son is 6.

Well what can I say about myself

I acted in drama all through high school. I could act a fool and no one new the difference. Little harder now but know that I'm older I don't care

I didn't learn to drink beer until the military. wonderful years at least I brought something good out of it.

I collect all Things M&M I have an entire 20x20 room decorated in M&M from the bright colored walls to the yellow couch and 100's of items on shelves. Now that's different for a 41 year old man

I have 2 1/2 year old twins that limit my building time but a very understanding wife for letting me take up the garage for this new obsession

oops that was four o'well it's only the tip of the iceberg in my bizarre life. Thanks for listening, Scott

Time to share...

I grew up in a rural town in North Dakota...German as a second language was manatory till 4th. grade (so you could talk to the parents of other kids)...

I left North Dakota in a 69 Camaro with the pedal to the metal and never looked back..but as I grow older do have fond memories...

I'm now in Alaska...but North Dakota was colder!!!!

This is great!! :)

Let's see:

1. I grew up in Key West in a family of fisherman. My grandfather begged me to come back and work the boat for years. Now, sometimes I wish I had.

2. I was a Military Policeman in the Army back in the '70's. It was the perfect job because I had been a cook for several years before going into the service  Army Intelligence is indeed an oxymoron.

3. I've held more jobs than I can remember, and last year at the age of 50 became a High School reading teacher and I'm having a blast. The kids are a riot.

and one to grow on...In my wilder days, I was thrown out of 11 apartments in one year.
:P :guzzle:
When I die, I want to go quietly in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not kicking and screaming like the passengers in his car.

Three things about me

Postby crankshaft » Sat Sep 30, 2006 9:56 am

Hard to pick out just three interesting things when everything I've done has been interesting..

(1) ex-Air Force stationed in England.

(2) Retired Police Motrorcycle cop. Detective (Sergeant) The wife and I still ride our Gold Wing all over the lower 48

(3) Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor.I've even built experimental aircraft and have flown them all over the states and Canada.

(4) I.ve even written a book based on my adventures in the Air Force and On the Police Department. (All fiction based on fact, imagination, and some down right lies.)

(4) Been married to the same woman for fifty ones years. Thats some kind of record in California.

Thats four things.. SORRY

Sometimes in life we miss oppurtunities when we had them right in front of us. I spent some time in KeyWest in 1975. Wish I never left. I met some of the fisherman down there and they were some very real characters. I always thought a person should live where he wanted to vacation. What's the extended [monthly] camping situation like throughout the Keys like ?

Apparently Crankshaft can't count... Must be an Air Force thing...

Sherrie is Right... this is fun...

As for me...

1: USMC 86-93 (got extended D/T that pesky sandbox game)

2: Paramedic in Urban upstate NY environment for the last 14 years, (it was safer in the Marines)

3: Was arrested once for destroying private and public property, (in the results of the hotel furniture glide path ratios, the mattress will clear the police car, the dresser won't... oh yeah, I'm not supposed to stay in a Holiday Inn ever again... ever... That's what they said.)

I really couldn't say. Having lived there, I never went camping in the Keys. I moved out in 1978, and I haven't been to visit in 3 or 4 years.

There are some people on the Florida Tearjerkers web site who have camped in the keys. I think a few of them are on this board as well.

Perhaps when the Tear Drop is finsihed I'll find out for myself

You are correct Sir, I am one of those of whom you speak of, We have camped in the Keys for 15 years or so. Actually it is the only way to see and experience the Keys. I will be back in December for a week just to refresh my memory that was blurred by alcohol last time. Ahh yes it can be fun

I understand completely. I had to leave while I still had enough brain cells to find my way off the island

Nope it wasn't the Air Force... It was caused by being married fifty years to the same woman.

Crankshaft.

I took my darling wife out of Key West, where she had been teaching Special Ed for 12 years. We are going back next March (with the teardrop - I hope!) to camp. We have camped in the Keys many times in all seasons, and it is always pleasant. It doesn't really get very hot down there, and it never gets cold. You need to camp out in the Dry Tortugas - best camping experience of my life!
