Reason for oversize fender well covers?

Postby Roly Nelson » Wed Oct 04, 2006 1:11 am

I just gutted the interior of my Kenskill and the fender wells protruding though the floor are HUGE. They must be at least 8" too wide and way too high. The up and down axle travel can't be more than 3", yet there is a full 12" above the tire before you hit the steel above it. I plan to reduce their size and wonder if there is a negative comment to this sort of thinking. I need more storage, not more fender-well protruding into the trailer. (I'll never have tire chains on these wheels).

Roly, needing feedback before taking drastic action.

They are that large because an engineer at the factory thought they would make good shoe shelves. Well at least one of them seeings how the other one was hidden.

Have a good day.
