I just Pm'ed SkipperSue about this; But I too served aboard Preble( and John F. Kennedy too...) from '88 to '92 during the first war with Iraq.( by the way, regarding Vet benefits- they actually gave Gulf War vets some- then started refusing services later...what a bunch of .....never trust politicians.....).It doesn't bother me for my own sake- I came through it all fine, but I feel bad for all those guys who need the bennies and can't get/use them...

I had to stay home and take care of the women while you guys were all serving, so I want to say thanks to all of you too!

Seriously...

Born in 1956, I missed the draft and I missed any real conflicts--and enlistment conditions being what they were at the time of 1975, 1976... enlisting would have probably been the best career choice I could have made. However, after Vietnam, few people lined up for that.

But never in my life did I hear that you had to serve in WAR to be considered a vet.

Heck, if you were stuck on base at night and couldn't make it to the local whorehouse, you guys sacrificed ENOUGH, and you certainly deserve to be considered full vets and all of the benefits that come with it.

(See how I worded that so it would be hard for even a conservative, evangelical Christian veteran to get mad at me?)
Here we go again!
