Need HELP

Postby Lynne » Tue Oct 17, 2006 11:16 am

This has nothing to do with building a tear drop camper but I thought you guys would be able to help me out a little. I made a screen door with horses running across it and the corners have a fancy piece attached to them. I am having trouble with the 1/4 inchg plywood warping. What I was wondering, would baltic birch work without warping or will I have to go to a thicker piece of plywood.

I don't know how to post a picture of the door I would show you what I have.

...I would think with horses running across it, that it would get torn up fairly quickly... :D ;) ............ 8)

p.s. a little more info would be nice but 1/4" ply is not usually stable unless some additional framing/stiffening is added...MJ
...I have come to believe that, conflict resolution, through violence, is never acceptable.....................mj

Lynne, is it the horses that you cut out that is warping, or the corner pieces?
I started out with nothing and I still got plenty left.

Jim, It's the horses I cut out. I am putting a piece behind these to look like a fence but would like to not have it in the next door.

Madjack, the horses are scroll sawn out and fit across the bottom section of the door. The Door Clara seen used what looked like 1/4" plywood.

Lynn
How big are the horses? Can you use a piece of 1/4 board instead. May warp less and give a smoother finish. We can get Oak, Poplar and Pine here.

Lynne, I would do like surveytech suggested. I like the idea of a fence behind the horses, it will add to the beauty and give the support for the PW not to warp. Here is the picture of your door Lynne. I hope you don't mind that I posted it for you.

No I don't mind you posting the picture Jim. I'm glad you did. It's going to be fun getting the fence behind the horses but it can and will be done or I will be in BIG trouble. I know what to do for the next door now. Clara only wants two more. Thats all. LOL
