My icebox

I know it is considered an extravagant use of space but I really wanted an icebox. The first attempt was according to the Kuffle Creek plans and no matter what we did the rivets leaked. I had bought a water tank off ebay but it turned out to be to deep so we used it and a tupperware container mounted in the top part to hold the ice.

We wanted to but found out it isn't as easy as you'd think. We found a company on the web called D Lawless http://www.dlawlesshardware.com/tins.html that had them. We also got our icebox hardware there.

Can you use a block of ice in there, or cubes? Like, if you took a gallon of water and froze it, would that fit in there?

I love that tin work, and if I wasn't on dial-up at home, I would really explore that web site. I need little corner thingies for my tongue box.

We believe....haven't tested yet, that the commercial blocks of ice we have sold here will fit. So far I've just emptied out the ice cubes from the freezer to try it out. It works nice so far. But then we have run out of summer and it was only 59 in the garage when we tested it.

The D Lawless site isn't very fancy but it is amazing how many little odd things they carry. It's best to place an order of over $50 bucks at a time, though. Cause the minimum shipping is $10.50.

This could be a possiblility! Last winter was very mild and this one is predicted to be the same. My cross country skis got used a total of 2 hours last winter. We booked a cabin at the Cross Ranch State Park in January with the plan of doing some skiing, you have to book way in advance, and ended up just doing some muddy hiking in 40 degree weather.
