Camping in Indiana...a few pictures

Postby 48Rob » Sun Oct 22, 2006 2:04 pm

We spent the weekend at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana.
Nancy Kroes of the Serro Scotty club had a little campout and invited us to bring our trailer; the Mobile Sportsman.

Nancy and all the Scotty club members were most pleasant...just like teardrop people!

Mid October in Indiana is the best time for fall color, if you like that sort of thing, and we do!
The park offers some fantastic walking trails along the river, and through many deep sandstone ravines.

This was also the last weekend of this years "covered bridge festival".
Here is a shot of one of the 32 covered bridges remaining in Parke county.

With exception to one early morning shot, the light was awful for shooting in the canyons, but here they are anyway...

Rob:

Wonderful composition:

I always enjoy your posts feathered in with your photographic pleasures.

The surroundings and camping experience you had with other like minded
creative spirits seems to come through in this post as did your country
exploration in your green ride from the past.

Coming from Vermont; I think fall foliage and covered bridges go together.

Thank you for sharing your frames in time.

I have a special place in my heart for Turkey Run. When I was 21 and in the Navy, I married my sweetheart and we spent our first weekend together at Turkey Run. Then I had to go back to Great Lakes and finish my "A" school. Was an awful short honeymoon.

Ken,

I can't lay claim to such a nice beginning, but it sure is a good place for courting... ;)

Rob, great pictures. I've never been there but it's on my agenda. I still think that would be a great location for our Indiana Spring Gathering.

Thanks for posting the pics.

Nice, Nice,Nice; My daughter lives out in Angola IN I believe it is Stueben County. One of my all time favorite road trips is the visit to Angola. Indiana is a beautiful place!
