Machine shop ?

Postby ALAN GEDDES » Tue Oct 24, 2006 3:28 pm

I can lay my hands on a pair of Harley Davidson front wheeels and tire at a good price. I would love to use them on a lightweight tear. Anyone have knowledge of a GOOD machine shop that could turn me two axle stubs on a lathe at a reasonable cost. I'm an experienced machinest but don't have access to equipement any more.

Hey Al!

If all else fails maybe a local Vo-Tech or Hi School shop would let you in the door?!

Just a thought...

Sounds like a fun project!

Cheers,

Alan,
If all else fails a welder might be able to tell you who can be of help. Might even be able to do it or loan the machinery to do it your self. I am partial to the farmer types. Should be a bunch of them around Fayettville.

Alan, I came across this when I was searching one day.

Don't know anything about them but maybe you'll find out if you want? Coop had a good suggestion with Tech schools also.
Good luck on your quest.

Since you seem to know your way around the tools, maybe you could volunteer to share your wealth of knowledge at a votech/high school for the return of making a few parts?

Like Miriam said - make a friend with a local farmer. These guys are great and can help you out............

The votec is also a good approach. It's hard to find a skilled machinist.

Good Luck

That E shop looks interesting. Have to get some measurements.
