I think somebody needs to get those rear leafs re-arched and eliminate those extra long shackles and would make a good tow vehicle. Nice ride tho. :thumbsup:

Nitetimes...I was going to post the same thing...but that shackle lift kit is what saved me in Minden...them's some flat springs!!! Doug

No doubt, I've had some bad ones but those have to be the worst I've seen. :shock:

Those lift kits do come in handy tho. :thumbsup:

I can remember back in the late 60's early 70's you could go in and buy them to fit just about anything...but they were trying to sell fat tires and wheels and a crappy lift kit just fit the bill to get the wide tires on...I had to go to a machine shop in Minden and have them punch me out a set...Doug

I believe it, I'm not sure they even sell them anymore, they really aren't safe. I had 10" ones on the back of my Maverick when I had the 60's on it. Set the car up nice but didn't handle worth a $hit on twisty roads. Made the steering a little funky too. It was all good back then, our motto was "if it fits and it functions it's good." Only had to go fast in a straight line most times anyway.

Shackle lifts are still used by the 4X4 crowd. Both by themselves and as a necessity when using a longer spring.

Increased ground clearance and greater wheel travel for a relatively cheap price. All pluses in the off roading world.
