Ira to Coral Springs--DROP DEAD!!!

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Ira » Wed Nov 01, 2006 2:31 pm

Thanks for helping me out here, Wolf.

I thought the possible chain of events I was trying to lay out was pretty clear:

If they can ban certain breeds of dogs, the next thing they will do is ban certain people...and that blacks would be the first on their list.

It was in no way meant as a statement as to what they SHOULD do, but rather, what they may LIKE to do with this kind of attitude.

It was a 100% liberal, politically correct sentiment, and while politically correct might not always be a good thing, in this case, I'm totally baffled that the post was interpreted otherwise.

I'm not nuts here, right? I may be nuts elsewhere-- but not here!

Nah... too easy...

Seriously, I got what you were saying, Ira. I'm as surprised as you that someone could read it otherwise.

What the heck is next--forbidding BLACKS!?

Ira,

The thing that is ALARMING to me is that somehow BLACKS fall right behind (next after) dogs on your list!!! :x :o

What a pitiful world we live in.

My Liberal rant... Ira---I had to remember who was speaking to not be offended. It is the thought that is scary to a lot of us. And the knowledge that there are places where people still think like that :?

You could have said: women, cats, kids, horses, Christians, Jews---the list is endless but that Blacks is the first thought is very alarming and a reminder to people of color they are at the top of the list of people expected to be discriminated against. Because they are still abused for the color of thier skin.

Rant over.

> Ira, Ira, Ira,

I did not misunderstand you. I did NOT think that you were advocating the banning of BLACKS. I DID mean exactly what I said though.

> Miriam,

You get it! At least some else understood my intended meaning.

I'm glad to live where I can do what I want with the land I work so hard to pay for. There are communities, even in this county, where you must have only white curtains in all windows that face the street, and you can't have a regular, affordable fence-you must have an expensive iron fence. I just have to laugh and go back to my home in the country...

We built our TTT in the driveway. Can't imagine how that would have gone over in some of the "fancy" neighborhoods!

Still some good things about rural life,
Sherrie

Gee can we all drink coffee, can we, can we, huh, huh.

Isn't Palm Beach where the Sultan of Bruniiiiiiii lives. Perhaps they are offended by colors that don't run. Or maybe they don't like primary colors. Could be a childhood thing.

You buy it and I will go out and get a $100 pick up, rig it with balin wire an pink birds and be there. 8) I can bring my teardrop too right?

I guess I've just been in one of those moods the last few days. Normally I keep my mouth shut on these kinds of topics. I'm with you Miriam, but I would like to add that I have gay/lesbian/trans friends who are not just discriminated against, but at times are in fear for their lives. They die simply because of who they are. They are made fun of on TV and in movies. Many communities seem to feel that children are better off in an orphanage than they are in a loving home with two parents, soley because of their orientation. It breaks my heart.

By most accounts I would be considered a conservative Christian, but I don't see this as a liberal vs conservative issue. I see it as an issue of loving one another in spite of our differences. I love Dr King's words, "... where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." I pray for the day when no one has to live a compromised life because of the color of their skin, whom they love, the God they believe in or that they don't, their gender, financial status, national origin, or any number of other reasons we choose to discriminate against one another.

Sorry for the rant. I think it's time for me to head off to bed.

Joanne

We just received a letter from the township saying that we have 4 days to repair and tuckpoint our porch and paint the garage. The concrete porch my wife is going to check into but it's a little cool around here to paint. The paint that is on there now is peeling so to do a good paint job I'm going to have to scrape off what I can and then at least sand the rest to make is smooth. If they will wait until summer I've got no problem with painting it then. We'll have to contact the township and talk with them about it.

I plan on moving out of here in a couple of years. I moved to Redford because it was close to my first job and it was all I could afford. Now all I need is a broadband connection since I work out of the house.
