Hey Rich, he may have let someone touch it, but that's not the reason he was dragged into court :(

Here is a music question I've always wondered about. The song "Mule Skinner Blues" by The Fendermen. I was told it was a spoof, but on what? What are a mule skinners blues anyway? Danny

The Fendermen- Jim Sundquist(d1937, Niagara, Wis) and Phil Humphrey(d1937,Madison, Wis) both played Fender guitars, each had his own bands which they combined for "Muleskinner Blues", first recorded in1930 by it's composer Jimmie Rodgers. Single made top 5 in 1960; raucous version of the 'blue yodel' was their only hit, but a good example of garage band music, a pre-echo of punk rock.
It was all to do with the yodelling throughout that song. Jimmie Rodgers is claimed to be the first to introduce yodelling into country music.
I would say that it was a take off of the original.
Cheers

I've always thought it was interesting the person that lost the coin flip to

get on the plane with Buddy Holly. Also who he lost the flip to.

Rick, Apparently, upon further research, there seems to be an ongoing debate over this point. Jimmie Rodgers or Slim Whitman both recorded in the same era's so, at this point in time, I would say the argument is a moot point. Either or could have been responsible for introducing it.

Honestly, I have no feelings or points to make on it as I am not a country music fan 8)

Slim Whitman...now that brings back a very old memory from when I was about 8-10 years old...

One of my uncles was in country music. He never made it big, but was on several local radio stations here in Florida and in Georgia. He and other musician friends would jam at my Grandmother's house in Ocala Florida, where I grew up. I lived with my Grandmother a lot of the time, and I loved to sit and listen to their music when they played there. This was in the late 1940s. At that time, Whitman lived about 20 miles from where I live now in Central Florida. He started his musical career in this area, mainly around Tampa, about 25 miles from where he lived.

I guess he got to know my uncle, who played around this area at that time, because at one of those jam sessions at my grandmother's house, I remember watching and listening to Slim Whitman sing Indian Love Call. That's a sound you don't forget. That was a couple of years before it was recorded.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
