I am looking forward to the day I can once again vote for someone or something . instead of voting against the crooks & liars and the pork barrel crap they want us to pay for. I
In Oregon we once again elected the liar who promised no tax increases tben 12 days after the election proposed the largest tax increases in Oregon history. Bet you can't guess what he's going to do this time. When are people going to learn to vote for the man and not the party he in

THAT is the question. So many people vote straight party tickets because they are just too lazy to research the issues. As long as we are stuck with lazy voters who think they should vote along party lines, this country will continue its down hill spiral. I am registered as a Democrat, but split my ticket and did vote for the Republican Governor. I refused to vote for Lieberman or Lamont and voted Republican as a protest vote vote mainly, but also thought that Schlesinger was the better of the three. He attempted to run against all odds, without the support from the Republican party and didn't have $15 Mil of his own $$$$ to put into a run.

Lieberman is just one big insecure cry baby who can't decide what he wants to do. Promise one thing and deliver another. Politics here in CT really sucks.

On a lighter note, it would seem you guys in Florida at least got your counting right.

How about a special "protest line" where voters would cast a vote against the system, in most cases where the vote is for the lesser of two evils??
There oughta be some way to get the politicians to all lose, if no consensus of support exists! Wouldn't that send a message!! I know I'm talking anarchy!!

It's not anarchy if you participate in the system and vote. ;)

I like the story of the Jeraulte Country, SD folks who voted in a woman who died two months ago over the Republican incumbent for a County Commissioners office.

The dead woman won, 100 votes to 64. THe voters knew she died two months ago.

I share the concern and disgust that I hear on this thread, but I think we need to consider an important point. Our founding fathers lived in a world where, for centuries, monarchs had exerted absolute power over their citizens. They designed our governmental system brilliantly and deliberately to limit the amount of power any one individual, group, or party can acquire. The system forces compromises to be made. We get a lot of arguing, bickering, and such, but the overriding fact is that the system works! With all its flaws, our democratic system is still the best functioning government in the world! That's my opinion.
