Recipes that work best for teardroppers

Postby vairman » Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:41 pm

Here's the Taco Soup recipe from the LCG. Mary's recipe sounds pretty good, too. I'll have to give it a try.

Terri's Taco Soup

2 cans Ranch Style Beans
2 cans Stewed Tomatoes, chopped (I put mine in a blender)
2 cans Whole kernel Corn
1 can Chopped Rotel Tomatoes ( I used original)
1 sm, can Chopped Green Chilies
1 tsp. Garlic Powder or 1 clove fresh, chopped
1 tsp. Ground Cumin
1 Tbsp. dried Cilanto or 1/4 cup fresh
1 package dry Taco Seasoning
1 pkg. dry Ranch Dressing Mix
1 1/2 lbs. ground Chuck or Sirloin

Empty contents of all canned goods, including juices into a DO. Add all seasonings and dry mixes. Brown hamburger, drain and add to other ingredients. Simmer until heated through, (about 30 min.)
Enjoy.... :)

P.S. We're waiting for the 'Etoufee recipe too...Mmmmm...makes my mouth water just thinking about it! :awesome:

How far west is West Texas? I spent a little time in Eastern NM, and visited West Texas many times.

Julie, I hoping to get another trip in sometime this fall/winter. Most likely will be spur of the moment, based on the weather.

West Texas starts at Fort Worth and goes to El Paso.
Owen Ivie is a fairly new lake (1990) between Abilene and San Angelo.
It's owned and operated by the Colorado River Municipal Water District.

Waco took claim to "Heart of Texas" but 120miles South, we're considered Central Texas. I can't figure IT out let alone East and West Texas. :?

...one more reason Texas should be broken up into 5 different states...call 'em Houston, San Antonio. El Paso, Amarillo and Dallas...(MJ ducks and runs for the nearest door....) :D ;)

I've always thought of anything from Abilene West as West Texas. I base that on topography more than anything else. Texas being the shape that it is, it's kind of difficult to say what's what sometimes. As an example...San Antonio is 250 miles North of Brownsville (far South Texas), but San Antonio is still considered South Texas. Go figure!

I disagree with the conventional wisdom about the Interstate Divider.

Menard is the closest town, IIRC, to the actual geographical center of the state.

And it kills me that Stephenville could be considered North Texas.
