Hello from another Newby.

Hello.
My name is Roy, and I'm looking at building a Benroy, or variation on the theme. I live near Trenton, Ontario. One of the things I'd like to know, is where to find material weight for plywood. Also, I've seen a Little guy trailer that uses a door with a built in window. Any idea where these are available? I've been watching the forum from the sidelines, and have picked up a lot. Great forum. Thanks. Roy

Hello, Airmad

You asked and wrote:I'd like to know, is where to find material weight for plywood.

Here is a source for plywood weight:
http://www.boulterplywood.com/MarinePlywood_4.htm

These are about weights:

3/4" plywood is 75#

1/2" plywood is 50#

1/4" plywood is 25#

Here is a source for the doors you may want to check out.

These guys will do custom door sizes with a LOT of options, including screen doors.

I have never contacted these people so cannot say what kind of deals they have or anything about the quality... Look at the "Fax form" for most of the details.

Anyone ever use these guys?

Thanks Dave. They sure do have an extensive inventory. Looks like they carry just about everything you would want for your trailer.

Roy, the thing about building doors is that when you cut out the door openings from your sides, you have the main ply material for your door anyway.

Why spend a lot of money buying something pre-built and not in the shape you necessarily want?

Building/framing/insulating the doors is REAL easy, and you can put in any kind of window you want.

If a store-bought door was easier to fit and finish into your opening, I would say okay, but it isn't. It's also a matter of looking at how much money you're going to be spending on a ton of other stuff you'll need, so why doors, when they're not really hard to build?

Plus, with a bought one, your door finish, the look if it, probably ain't gonna exactly match your TD side, depending on what you have in mind.
Here we go again!
