New Build "62" Shasta

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby bluebanjo » Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:12 am

The bending part was the hard part on my wing building project, so I am really looking forward to your instructions. When you post them I am going to build another pair of (hopefully) improved wings. So many of the vintage Shastas are without wings that your bending method is going to help a lot of us. Thanks. :)

Two very important quotes come to mind when I think of Andrew and Len:

Here I come to save the day!

Never fear, Underdog is here!

Thanks you guys!

Well I hope this is the final item to do on my Shasta. Though I know your never done.

We took the Shasta out on a real camping trip, what I mean by that is we used all the facilities. Shower, water heater Refrigerator, fans, AC, awning and so on.

But when I/we went to use the bathroom there was no place to put anything. You only forget the obvious items...I had forgotten a medicine cabinet.

Well now that's corrected. (Pardon the "Pit Shot"...it's a small room)

Other than that it performed perfectly. But the best part was 207 miles down & back on a half a tank of gas. Even with all the other driving around I still came home with a 1/4 tank.

The album's;

Well, I took some time to pluck up the courage to scroll down the page and find out what a 'Pit Shot' was and why you would get that in a small room.

Boy, was I relieved to find is was an abbreviation for armpit. I was thinking it might be something a lot less savoury.....

Len, how much does it weigh, and how much do you think it affected your miles-per-gallon?

Looks like it would be a lot of wind resistance with that big flat front....

Arne
Haven't weighed it yet. I'll be heading south on I95 soon and will be passing a Flying "J" I'll have it weighed then.

I'm guessing about 17-1800 pounds. I just did a 207 mile trip with it last weekend, 1/2 tank of gas. (10.5 gallons) That's almost 20mpg. Empty driving just back and forth to work I get close to 30mpg.

See you soon

I would like to see the build photos of this Shasta build, but all of your links don't go there. They go to Flicker and I am even signed up with them and can't find them. Any help would be great!
Thank you. :D

That might be a question for Mike.
It seems that when they changed the format of the forum a while back a lot of the links were lost.
BTW it's good to see another Kansas member.
