The temp got up to around 65 today, perfect for TD building.
I started working on the galley section today. I first did some measuring and installed the framing for the lower rear bulkhead and countertop.



Rufus supervised the operation and approved.



I cut out the countertop and laid it into place, fit perfect.



That's all I got done today, hopefully the temp will be nice this weekend.

Is that 1 x 2 your using for the framing of the cabinetry? and pocket screws correct?

Yeppers, 1x2's and the pocket hole screws. I used the 1 inch coarse thread ones for this application.

I am enjoying watching your build, and seeing how you are modifying the Generic Benroy Plans. You are one step ahead of me in the build. It's like cheating off the kid beside you on a test.

Please keep us posted, I am curious to see how you build the cabinets.

Miriam, I'm not exactly sure what it is. Some kind of cabinet grade 3/4 plywood. The grain is very straight on it. It was some of that free wood that was left over from a renovation at work, free is good!

Mary, if you are cheating then so am I. I've been following Kristi's build since she was building a 5x8 on a 4x8 trailer. I've just about quit using the plans now, so much is different now. I've been looking at others pics and been winging it from there.

And by the way, anyone heard from Kristi? I haven't seen anything from her in a couple of weeks or so.

Skip how do you determine how far back one must or should start the cabinets ? The width of Countertop plus thickness of the hatch sides? So to be able to clear when shutting.....?

Well, very scientific! I laid down in the TD, allowed about 3 inches at my head to the front bulkhead. Then I eased up trying to keep my legs straight and got that measure and added about 3 inches there also. Then I measured at the back where the hatch will close and added 3 inches there. I put the front of the countertop just behind that 3 inches. I told you it was scientific!

Okidoki thats a good calculation even scientifically speaking... My hatch sides are 2 inches wide so from there I,ll go another 2 inches in, which should be plenty and frame from there...I hope...

I would want to see Skip keep a record of this job, in particular:
- how many times he swigged the Titebond;
- how many times he poured beer on the parts to stick them together.

LOL, no need for a missing person's report!

Things have been crazy-hectic at work and at home, so I haven't been online much lately. I'm looking forward to getting back to building, but it'll probably be after Christmas before that happens.

You're really moving along on your build! It's looking GREAT!!

The label on that beer looks familiar but I can't quite place it, what is it?

Oddly enough, I've had it too. The reason that it's odd is because I'm not a big fan of beer. They all taste too bitter to me. I remember it because my buddy happened to have some glasses with the same logo on it.
