Steve,
Awesome build. Yes, this is my first post, and I can't think of a more worthy project to bestow it on.

Our project will be slightly different, but you've given me some great construction details to work with.

Happy camping.

Nice. What type of project do you have in mind? A Tiny Travel Trailer, or you building a Teardrop?

Good luck to you.

Steve,
I certainly don't want to hijack your posting. I'm actually planning on building a specialized trailer. When I tell you what we have planned, I'll probably be stricken off the board, never to be seen or heard from again.

A little background is in order. My wife and I love to camp, and we either tent camp, or as of late, we sleep on a cozy full size mattress inside our Honda Element. I constructed a frame for the bed that maximizes the space. All our gear is either under the frame, or in our Yakima gearbox on top of the car.

The problem with this arrangement, especially sleeping in the car is having enough room for kitchen supplies, food, etc, and being able to boondock at wally world along the way.

Returning from a long trip, my wife and I bounced ideas off each other, and the "winning" design for "car camping" is a 4 x 8 trailer with built in shower in the front, and kitchen in the rear. The design is still up in the air, but will be probably be built on a HF 4 x 8 $399 special.

If I knew how to post a photo, I would post the rough plans so far.

Thanks for asking.

Your ideas intrigue me. I think I would like to subscribe to your news letter. :D All kidding aside I can’t imagine you getting tossed from the board cause of weird ideas. There would only be a couple of people left in here if that were true. I look forward to your design idea picture.

Don't worry about that at all. I'm not the kind of person that gets uptight over stuff like that. Besides, if you've got some good ideas, I'm likely to steal them. :)

 I seriously doubt that. Most of the people here (myself included) really dig the way out stuff.

See there, you already ahead of a lot of people - you have one of those elusive camping wives!

Ok, so will the sleeing will still be done in the element? Well, that gives you a *lot* of room for a shower and a kitchen. Heck, you could install a hot-tub and kitchen! Hey...

There is a "help with photos" button at the top in the menu screen. That might help you out.

Keep me updated on this please. I'm very interested in seeing what you come up with.

You could haul it without the water. Or even better, use some of that Silverton, Colorado water - it weighs 1/4 of the weight of regular water. I think it has something to do with the elevation, or maybe it was the water molecules getting spaced further apart due to the thin air? I read about it on TV.

The sauna remark cracked me up. I thought that might be coming, surprised you got it in there rbeember. Nicely played!

This thread is like it's own Forum. It is an island is a sea of confusion. Is it any wonder we all hang out in Steve's thread? I hope it never ends.

:) The more the merrier. Slide down NightCap, let's see how many more people we can fit on the couch.

I should have some more build pics & info tomorrow when I drag myself outside to work on it.

BTW, I think I get another Teardrop & Tiny Travel Trailers T-Shirt if my message counter rolls past 10,000 views!

Wango, that is only 6' long. If you have a 4x8 trailer, that gives you 2' extra you could go to 6' wide 1 foot over on each side and lay x-wise in the trailer, if you could squeez another ft or so.  :)
