Comedy...or is it?

----the following has not been verified as true-----WD

Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Cokie Roberts, and a tough old U.S. Marine
Sergeant were all captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the
terrorists told them that he would grant them each one last request before
they were beheaded.

Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot
"spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with
the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content."

Peter Jennings said, "I am Canadian, so I'd like to hear the song "O Canada"
one last time. "The leader nodded to a terrorist who had studied the Western
world and knew the music. He returned with some rag-tag musicians and played
the anthem. Jennings sighed and declared he could now die peacefully.

Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape
recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe
someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end."

The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Roberts
dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy."

The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. U.S. Marine, what is your final
wish?"

"Kick me in the ass," said the Marine.

"What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?"

"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the
Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass.

The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol
from inside his cammies, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting
confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and sprayed
the Iraqis with gunfire. In a flash, all the Iraqis were either dead or
fleeing for their lives.

As the Marine was untying Rather, Jennings, and Roberts, they asked him,
"Why didn't you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to
kick you in the ass first?"

"What," replied the Marine, "and have you three Assholes report that I was
the aggressor?"
Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

I don't think it's really a joke. It's too politically biased.

Yeah, it's SAYING something, but it's not really funny.

Also, I think most people would agree that our media basically laid down and played dead while Bush went on with this war. In fact, the media were incredible cheerleaders--even CNN--because it meant great ratings for them.

So to try and and create a joke saying that they've somehow been overly critical of the military just doesn't cut it, because it's just not true.

And I'm not reading into your post, Rob, that this is what you believe or anything. Just answering your question on whether it's actually a joke.

A joke has to have a ring of truth to it to be funny, and this one doesn't.
Here we go again!

What do you mean "even CNN". They're coverage of both Iraq wars was so gung ho I thought they'd become the official outlet for the pentagon. Don't you remember the weapon of the week?

COMEDY

Postby CPASPARKS » Wed Dec 06, 2006 10:35 pm

Now folks....this is a political joke

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies: "I'm sorry, I cannot accept money from you; I'm doing community service this week." The florist is pleased and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open his shop there is a thank you card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies: "I'm sorry, I cannot accept money from you; I'm doing community servic e this week." The cop is happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a thank you card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Later a Republican comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies: "I'm sorry, ! I cannot accept money from you ; I'm doing community service this week." The Republican is very happy and leaves the shop.
The next morning when the barber goes to open, there is a thank you card and a dozen different books such as "How to Improve Your Business" and "Becoming More Successful."

Then a Democrat comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies: "I'm sorry, I cannot accept money from you; I'm doing community service this week." The Democrat is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Democrats lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between left and right

I heard the same joke only it was a conservatives that came for the free haircuts. So I don't see how this proves your point. It all depends on who is telling it that makes it fact or a lie. That is the real difference!

Ah hell! I thought it was about reporters being dramatic and not trustworthy. To say nothing of thier tendancy to believe no one will really kill them.

Thought it was funny!
