Inside height

Postby Arne » Wed Jan 05, 2005 9:55 am

Well, the weather is 'deteriorating', so thought I'd post this.

My tear was built 54" tall to haul a scooter inside. That thought is passe and I'm thinking about cutting it down to 48", for looks and gas mileage. I'd like to get rid of the somewhat bulbous shape. If I had made it 48", it would be the same height as my van..

So, I don't think I would miss the 6", at least it meaures out ok. I'm wondering how many went taller than 48"? And do you still think it was necessary?

We built with the sides at 54". The actual inside hieght is 49 1/2". With the futon, I can "walk" on my knees without bending over. I'm 5'9". You will also gain a little more cabinet storage. Our Tear is 5'x9', it seems perfect. It is more of a bulbous shape than the "traditional" tear. It looks fine to us. Form follows function...

I don't think wind resistance is much of an issue for the Tear. The tow vechicle is probably more of an influence on airflow and milage.
