I went to a potluck at work a while ago and my manager made this sweet and sour Sauerkraut with kelbasa in it that was out of this world good. I was hoping that someone here has made it or has a recipe for it. My fingers are crossed. :worship:

I got laid off in August. Boeing..... I have an interview to get hired back in in January. Manager would not give me the recipe. Secret.

I think the "Bavarian" style kraut is sweeter than regular kraut.

i found this just add kraut.

* 6 tablespoons butter
* 2 large onions, sliced
* 1 cup packed brown sugar
* 1/2 (28 ounce) bottle ketchup
* 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
* 1 1/2 teaspoons spicy brown mustard
* 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
* 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
* 1 pound kielbasa sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces

DIRECTIONS

1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute onions until tender. Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and pepper sauce. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes.
2. Place sausage in a slow cooker with the sauce and onions. Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours. The longer it simmers the better!

He went out to Boing back in 1997, and that was the last I heard of him. Sorry, I can't narrow it down any further than that.

That's funny, Oklahoma Julie and I had a conversation that went like this, "Oh do you know my brother? he works there too."

I said, "Well, at one time we employed 25000 people in town so chances are I don't know him."

Then my wife chimes in (she works for the same company) "I remember the name, I think he worked in our division."

Hey Nitecap, try adding some apple sauce to the kraut. My wife Sue used to work for a German chief and she said that's what she added to it. Gives it that sweet touch. Good stuff.

Not a bad idea. Thanks. I know that apple sauce can replace oil in a lot of recipes also. Thanks for the idea, it does sound good.
