Thank you for your reply.

I wasn't knowledgeable of these flat screens having many dead pixels?
That will have to be on my decision making list for sure.

I wonder if there are any guys that have company monitors that are larger
and if they have any suggestions?

Steve... I have bought at least a half dozen flat-screen monitors from Newegg.com. I have yet to see a dead pixel? They are very good about returns anyway. They are the on-line version of what used to be the Egghead computer stores... A very good company to deal with. just FYI

I've also bought enough parts to build prolly 50 plus PC's with in the last 6 years or so... NEVER had a problem that was their fault! And when a case or something was damaged in shipping, they just sent me another one, no questions asked. They did't even ask for the old one back! It don't get any better than this.

A buddy of mine got a Dell for Christmas a couple years ago. When he got it he had 4 dead pixels. He called and they told him that their spec was 5 dead pixels. It's no big deal but it's a bit annoying to have dead pixels after spending all that money. His computer was probably shipped from one side of town to the other.

Dead pixels are usually a manufacturing defect.

I bought my ATI ALL-In-Wonder from Newegg, I can vouch for them.

I buy most of my PC parts from them, usually the best prices, free to very reasonable shipping. Easy returns too.
I have yet to have any problem with them.

Well, Guys:

I went to Fry's electronics today as they had a sale on a Toshiba 32" monitor/TV.
http://www.frys.com/

The sale was in the local paper and so went to the store and bounced in with
high hopes of finding what I wanted. Well I got there and in the area where
there were monitors from 22" wide screen down to 15" regular monitors it
was sane. I asked where the 32" Toshiba monitor was and they said go to
the TV section. So I slithered over to that section walked into a cavern of
flat screens and had some trouble finding this oh so lowly sale item 32"
Toshiba.

It was an older model of course and it wasn't playing the HD feed all the
others were so I couldn't compare. The manual was like one chapter of
War and Peace where my eyes were left to glaze over quite quickly. I told
the young sales person my need to use the whole 32" screen for monitor
use. NOT a scrunched uP maybe picture as a monitor. He said it was
possible if I had a cable and my video card had an output plug. By this
time this 700.00 older TV wasn't looking as good as the 1700.00 TV's all
around it. Try as I may my eyes couldn't get over the comparison and the
uncertainty of the end result I want was in jeopardy.

I crumpled under the weight of the decision at hand. I withdrew from the
flat field of screens by now spoiled by the contrast difference that was
apparent as the dollar amount went uP and UP to the Nirvana of a eye
gluttonous with image and size causing doubt all about me.

My 17" screen is sorta like tent camping for me and as we all know who
have moved on uP to the TD or beyond ... life begins after your @$$ is off
the ground. I have to but throw money at my desire for the field that is flat
to have a success to this story, but know that my education of the I/O
video card must be firm as well as what exactly the TV/Monitor must have
to have both work in concert for a full 32" screen view with the resolution
desired. If I throw into the mix ... what elements of the TV do I have to
have .... that will make it useful in this ever changing options area, the
train starts to run off the tracks as my mind hasn't wrapped around all of
that yet.

Ugh~ ugh~ A deer in the headlights seems to be me with a head ache.

Since it's Fry's you are talking about, I'll bet you had to stand around for half an hour before you were helped by some egotistical pimple faced kid. I've been to several (CA, AZ, TX) and they are the same, though I've had one or two exceptions. Those exceptions usually aren't there the next time I go. They must get run off for being nice.

Rich:

I am glad you got some enjoyment out of my severe uncertainty. :)

Have to admit I am walking a tight rope between TV land and Monitor sanity.

My demands for a flat panel size only out-sized by my girth for a visual
domination of my dual core uPscale PC has caused me to face crowds at
Christmas. This is as pleasurable as sticking a foot in a hole while running
and twisting ones ankle causing limping for weeks on end as well as the
mental anguish that goes with such an event.

I might just get a personal buyer to end my misery, by demanding the best
results while not having to face the pimples of Rocky's visions any longer.
Only my thrift ... some say cheap mind set, and the ego that resides in me
that says you can do this, has held off my now closed in mind vision of this
solution.

So I shall read Consumer reports ... my I/O manual, CNET.com reviews as
well as question those that know more ... Can't imagine I can fold like I did
today again, when I face the wall of flat screens once more.

Please send a few kind thoughts my way as I face the pimpled adolescents
roaming the floors of the many tech stores after the Christmas rush when,
my hopes of even better deals may come in view and my choices & confusion grow exponentially.

The shame of being intimidated by the flat screen walls must be redeemed~ ! :worship:

I was plesantly surprised when I found this AFTER I bought mine. They liked the affordability. They must like it more since the price is even lower.

Rocky:

I may yet accept your well placed council and go the two 19" monitor route.

Thank you for the link above and for your steadfast belief in your decision.
You are getting me to look back at this solution ... leaving the pain of all the
flat wall decisions I would have to face yet again.

I have this Video card below. Rocky, I think I may have to get another or some combination or add on to have the dual DVI output. Or can I use any old spare PCI Video card I may have from a legacy system to attach the two Monitor set uP that you have. What is the lest cost to most cost solution as you might see itImage
Most likely the dual DVI solution would be bestImage
Can I use the VGA for one Monitor and the DVI for the other at the same timeImage
I am running XP with Service Pack II:

I found this website to be interesting. http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/guide/

Yep, you can use a PCI video card. But of course you are limited to the PCI bus speed. The advantage to the dual head card is that it runs at AGP speed on both monitors. If you hooked one monitor to the DVI and another one to the other output, you will just have the same thing on both screens. With a dual head setup, you can drag a window to the other monitor.

It got me thinking about getting one more to make my setup more symmetrical, all it would take is an El Cheapo PCI video card and another monitor. I found out that Best Buy dropped the price again, last I saw they were $140 on their website (of course they were sold out.) I also found out that Flight Simulator supports multiple monitors. This could get interesting if I can find my FS discs.

Just Google "Multiple monitors" and you will find a lot of setup info. I am by no means an expert, it took me all night of trying different things to get my setup to work.

You could also get one of these if you had the money

It's not quite 26" but I got a Olivia 23" LCD HDTV/monitor and love it. Just a click of the remote switches between my computer and Satellite TV. Of course the stereo speakers are a joke but I plugged in a surround sound system. Got it from Tiger Direct on line.
