Steve... This "peanut" would politely suggest you replace your power supply... 9 chances out of 10 you'll be back up an running quickly. PSUs are the most common thing to fail in PCs... Mostly because the OEMs use cheap ones to begin with; so you're not alone. This happens to most of us sooner or later.

I have had great success with the "Sparkle" PSU units I have bought from Newegg. Yeah, I know... stupid name, but darn good power supplies that are actually better than their specs say... which is just the opposite of most brands. These are sold under a number of different names, such as "Fortran Source" and others, for a lot more money. I have prolly installed over 100 of these in the last 5 years, and NONE have failed yet.

This 350 watt unit is the one I use most:

But any of their higher rated ones will be good bets:

You prolly want at least a 300 watt PSU, If you are going to run a lot of drives and accessories. Once you are up and running you can consider whether to buy an new PC and add your old HD as a secondary slave drive... Or just transfer your files and keep the old PC as a backup.

Best of luck... and by the way: Newegg.com Rocks!

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I'm going to replace the power supply...Then, build another PC with a new O/S, CDRW's lot's of RAM, and a good CAD progam. I'll move stuff to my external H/D, then to the new PC..
Hopefully, I'll be back in business tomorrow!! :worship:
Fortunately, I have a laptop that I use for work..to keep up on my T&TTT fix!!

Ahh yes... Rob. I have both, being a graphic designer from as far back as the 80's, I first learned on and used Macs for years. I still have a newer Mac G5. Yet I still find it easier to use a Windoze PC for every day computing and on-line stuff. I think about my beloved Mac about like the Linux users out there... It just isn't up to speed as far as the tons of software available for Windows. Plus, my home-built PC is much faster. Sure, I have had to learn to deal with the Windows problems like spam, viruses, and a host of other vulnerabilities that go with the territory; but I haven't have any problems I can't solve (so far). I am not a big Bill Gates fan, by any means... But, Macs are just not that much fun any more in a world dominated by PC's running Windows. Plus I can build a hot-rod PC for $500... and my last Mac cost 5 times that! Just my experience with computers... Your mileage may vary.
