I guess you don't want to build a British boat design in North America, but you might want to just look at the designs on this site.

I like that one too. Have been considering one for years but I need to stretch my garage a bit first. I'd like one at least 24' long and 10' wide. Gotta be able to trailer it tho. I was also thinking more along the lines of inboard, something like a 460 with an outdrive rather than a shaft.
