As I am in the planning stage for the trip, I think I have found a way for my wife to join us a FCP.
Keeping in mind that although she really enjoys meeting new people, she has a limit to her camping time. Nothing any more serious than her personal limit of "Three days MAX" for living in the camper.

I'm willing to work with that. As I mentioned before, my oldest son will be having a wedding (in Pittsburgh) on June 9. I plan to drag the camper from Indiana to Pittsburgh, park it in the Hotel lot, go to the rehearsal dinner (Friday night), attend the wedding and reception (Saturday), sleep it off on Sunday morning, head out for Pulaski, NY, and then head for the FCP on Monday (June 11).

I plan to arrive on June 11 for a wonderful week of ADK camping, fishing and socializing. 8)

Obviously, that will be a lot more than Three days MAX of camping.

The plan, however, is coming together. My wife's sister lives in Burlington, VT and she is my son's God parent. When she heads back to VT, my wife will go with her. If all goes well, they will both come over to FCP on (say) Thursday and my wife can get in the camping experience within the "Time Limit".

If all does not go well, I'm not sure how she will get back to Indiana. Being a teacher, with some time off in the summer, it's not a disaster, but I will need to get back to work on June 12.

I love to plan ahead and try to make every trip as smooth as possible. My wife, on the other hand does not like to plan so far ahead. I find it a relief that we actually have a potential plan to get her to FCP and home to Indiana on an organized schedule.

I sure hope this works out (I'm confident that it will) because she has never enjoyed the spectacular beauty of the Adirondacks like I have as a child.
Wish me (us) luck as the plan comes together.

Kurt- sounds like you have your work cut out for you ! Good Luck! If you need to pit stop on the way up north, don't hesitate to contact me, I'm not that far off I-81 or I-90.

Rick, It's not that large of a task, I just need to make it fit so that we both enjoy the trip.
My wife loves to be outdoors and loves to sit and read in th solitude of nature, she just has a limit to the camping experience.
In past years of tent camping she has been discouraged by rainy weekends and I can't blame her too much. Unless you understand the "camping adventure" the rain can be a big problem.
Our old (inside joke) has been "we've been camping for 35 years and it's rained all three times."

I have a good feeling that this arrangement will work out.

Thanks for the offer, but I plan to stop at Pulaski and stay over one night before I continue to FCP.
I'll let you know.

Keep the faith.

Wow, Steve...that looks fantastic!!

I brought my frame home this weekend and will be getting supplies for the build this weekend. I only hope I can do your build manual justice!

Thanks for the inspiration...Hopefully, I can somewhat follow your footsteps as you complete the Lodge!

Nice Steve!

I remember the days at Fish Creek when the Metz was THE mothership of campers... now it seems it will soon be dwarfed by some new 'neighbours'

We'll also have lots of places to hide should it rain at the TearUp this year.

I see that you'll have electric breaks. How much is the Rondack going to weigh?

looking forward to page 5 (lodge5.html) !

Cheers (and happy New Years!)
