Maybe a redneck party ... .think about Jeff Foxworthy's stuff....

easy food with fried chicken, bbq, etc. get some RC cola, sweet tea

make an outhouse outside and everyone has to potty out there!!! haha
food and drinks on ice in buckets or thrift store dishes.
cheap white styrofoam cups.

Rent the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.....

you could brainstorm more stuff but it's just an idea.

julie
ps... no , I'm not a redneck... i don't think...
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

I think a 60's party would be fun, tie-dye shirts, long haired wigs and the music should be easy

I grew up in Pasadena so I am influenced by that Rose Parade thing. Divide into groups and each must make a float then have a parade!

Did you come with up any ideas yet?

Why don't you hit the party store and look at decorations--that might give you some ideas.

What about like a Hawaiian luao? (I don't know how to spell EITHER of those words.) Those stores have tons of cheap crap that would go with a tropical look. And you and the missus just have to wear some gawdy flowered shirts.

I'm sure you can think of some easy platters/dishes to either make or buy that would go with this theme--I would think pineapple and some kind of pork would play a part. Also, stick some umbrellas in the drinks, give everyone a lei when they walk in, and throw on a Don Ho CD.

You can probably pick those up for a few buck each.

A similar theme would be a beach party, and you play the Beach Boys.

Ooops--I just read Stan's post after posting this--and it looks like we think alike!

Ira I always wear a loud gawdy flowered shirt!

I think I have narrowed it down...either a basic tailgate party or the beach party theme. There was a lot of good ideas but with the short window to get ready I just wouldn't have time to build a outhouse for the Redneck Party! Julie if I had the time you would of won!

I am off to our party store and see what I come up with....hmmmm I wonder if you can find pineapples in Wisconsin this time of year??
It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

The beach party thing is easy:

Depending on how much you want to spend on food, you can have shrimp. clams, mussles, corn on the cob--even bugers and hot dogs--basically just like a barbecue.

If it's a Hawaiin thing, again--pretty easy. And yeah, I'm sure you can find pineapple.

The music is gonna set the theme for the whole thing. From there, you can bend the other stuff to make it work.
