Where to find lumber N. Cal?

Postby mfkaplan » Mon Jan 01, 2007 3:36 am

I'm looking for some quarter sawn white oak. Maybe not even quarter sawn. No, not for a teardrop. a Morris chair. Where would I find it in No. California. Nothing like that around where I live. Maybe Fresno, Modesto, Stockton Sacramento, the Bay Area? I really want a Morris chair. Real antique is not in my budget as are the reproductions that I like. I've got plans rated for a beginner and some new tools. I think I can do it. I did learn a lot working on the teardrop.

Mary, go to the phone book and look up lumber stores. Not Home Depot or Lowe's but a real lumber store. There should be some in Merced or maybe even one there by you. Happy New Year.

You need to contact MacBeath Hardwoods. They will have anything you want! If you get the chance go and pick it up; the amount of different woods are a wood workers dream.

Good luck on your chair!
