Ok .....it's a known fact that 10% of the death sentences handed out in this country are wrong because the prosecutor manipulated the case in front of the jury. So, if a person is put to death and later is found to be found innocent, I personally think the jury and the prosecutor needs to be hung in front of their families. ........ They committed murder also....
And when a police officer lies in a death penalty case , he needs to have the death penalty too.....

Can you site your source for this?

Was Saddam an innocent man?

Is the world a better place without him?

Using the state of Illinois for example......... And when this happened I took notice of the use of the death penalty.
The following is from a report from CNN>>>>>>>
===============================================
"In Illinois

Illinois resumed executions in 1977. Since then, 13 death row inmates in the state have been cleared of murder charges, compared to 12 who have been put to death.

Some of the 13 inmates were taken off death row after DNA evidence exonerated them; the cases of others collapsed after new trials were ordered by appellate courts.

================================================

The Illinois Governor George Ryan, who is a Republican placed a moratorium on executions...... A interesting fact is that 75% of the executions that do take place take place in southern states.

In the Illinois case........
One of the 13 exonerated Illinois inmates, Anthony Porter, spent 15 years on death row and was within two days of being executed before a group of student journalists at Northwestern University uncovered evidence that was used to prove his innocence.

Porter was released from prison last year.

There are many more cases of innocent men being put to death....... OK, it's your turn to prove me wrong on this ........
And tell me........ Would it have been worth it to have Anthony Porter put to death just to see the others put to death instead of life in prison?

Was Saddam an innocent man?

Of course not. But nowhere in my posts did I say he was , nor have I said he didn't deserve death. My responses were to the posters that wanted to "hang em high" in this country.

I realize this was the Iraqi people that actually carried out the sentence. But the US will be seen as being behind this. And I believe the US was pushing for this.

Correct me if I am wrong. You know the Iragi did it but it must be our fault. And we fear the wrong people will be mad at us for it.

You would have done what instead?

Here was a chance to allow the world to see the US as a country interested in a moral and just world , instead of the way the world see us now. The world sees the US as a country of warlords. And with the hanging of Saddam, I feel the US has lost a golden chance to start the healing process towards a calming effect. We need that.

Again how does interfering with the lawful process in Irag create a calming healing effect? Do thier laws not require hanging for truly quilty mass murderers?

I try hard to be fair so please explain. These are the statements you seem to be defending across the board. And yes John Wayne was an arse. Hollywood seems to create and promote that type. They all know more than us and are inherently better.

Wolfi, I ask for your source. What you quoted were people that were not put to death. “Anthony Porter”. Keep looking and maybe you can find someone that was wrongfully executed. See if you can find just onecase that DNA proved that the wrong man was put to death.
On the cases that collapsed do you think that some of them are because of the time that passed from when the murder happened till the second trial was ordered?

While these don't have the same numbers as Wolfi it is an interesting article about the death penalty.

Here is a list of problems with certain cases in death penalty cases:

Prosecuters in at least some cases fight to keep DNA from being tested after the execution:

Back on topic people!

The forum was speaking of a guilty man, not an innocent man. The only thing they did wrong was get a f*cked up video. I mean, come on at least get a video as good as those b*stards got of the beheadings of US citizens!

Torture? I didn't see Saddam getting tortured. He wanted to meet "Allah" and we granted him his wish! Although Saddam thinks he's going to meet 72 virgins, my bet he's going to meet satan who'll be stuffing a pineapple up his *ss at 12 noon every day!

WTO-NWO? Someone has seen too many SCI-FI programs!

In my opinion you have to look through the eyes of your advisary. The middle east looks at the US as weak because we run when the going gets tough (at least in the last 20 years). In a situation like this you have to adopt "their means" (no mercy-not for killers) and execute this guy. Anything less than executing Saddam would have put the US in a weaker position. Look at Somalia, Iran Hostage Situation and Vietnam. Officially, the Iraqis executed Saddam! Regardless of anything else. It is done! The US cleared it's plate and now we must focus on the next "situation".

Agree 100% Pres........it seems like in the current "situation" the US is the only ones who get blasted for not playing by the "rules".
