Paul, you must live in a tough area if you need a snorkel... or is that just 'in the wet' or zipping through billabongs.? (I just had to use that, picked it up from Nevil Shute Norway and Slim Dusty)

Lots of clearance on the tear, very nice... and can go lots of places.. I assume you are doing mostly rough camping.

Man, you are REALLY hardcore................. A snorkle kit for the truck?!?!? Does the tear take on water or keep you afloat? Krikie, it took me a little bit to find the wallaby. That is pretty neat.

Um, Paul, sorry tell you this, but the snorkle should be on the passenger side, not the driver side............./g/

When I was in Geelong, I was in and out of a car a few times. More than once I tried to climb into the passsenger seat... which was in reality the driver's seat.... he said to me: "where are you going, mate?" Got it straight finally... became useful in Ireland though, at least I had had some practice.

The snorkel serves two purposes:
1- It helps with fuel economy and keeps dust away from the engine.
2- It does keep the water away from the engine. We do not come across it often but it does happen that we have to traverse water in excess of a couple of feet deep.

Arne, I had a similar problem when I visited over there. My mate kept asking me if I would like to drive. Took about three days to reverse my thinking :) Most of our camping is done in the outback. Katrina and I tend to avoid the more traditional holiday spots(too many hoomans)
