Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby tyke » Tue Jan 02, 2007 6:31 am

Hi all thanks for the suggestions.
I do have a roof rack and the ply suppliers will deliver but it is also the size of the working area that’s a problem. I live in a terrace house and the back garden is tiny plus it already has a greenhouse and my son’s aviary in it so the working space is going to be small any road.
I would prefer to have 8’x4’ sides as I want to blitz the project in time for the first competitions of the year so I may redesign my layout. I have 3 more months until I start my project so plenty of time to keep on thinking.

Cheers, Steve :D

They make, yes the world famous "They" company, a carrier that can be placed under the bottom edge of plywood and extends upward with a handle that allows one person to carry a 4x8 more easily. You could also make one out of scrap wood or even a long rope tied in a loop hooking it over each of the bottom corners then picking it up in the middle. I made a small dolly to move my 4 x 10's around the shop. I would think that joining 2x8's would be a PIA. Guess I would frame the walls before I did that.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Sorry GHOSTSSX, I am building the trailer for single overnight stays at Air rifle shooting competitions around England.
I have carried large sheets around on building sites before using a loop rope method successfully before but my main problem is the restricted working area I have to use.
I have a few weeks before I can start constructing so at the moment I am taking the time to think out possible building techniques and nothing as yet is set in stone.

Thanks for all the replies I really appreciate the input.
