I've just about finished my frame and was thinking of stabilizer jacks. My question(s): 1. What are the preferred kind(scissor or standrd style) 2. Just on the back or on all 4 corners? 3. Or just not use them all together? 4. Etc, Etc Basically, any input would be helpful. Now is the time for me to decide about these so i can finish the frame up and get started on the rest!

I have 2 in the back but not the scissor type (standard)

I don't think multiple stabilizers are needed for a teardrop. The two tires, tongue jack, and maybe one stabilzer in the middle rear is all that's needed. :thinking:

Most of this depends on how much sex you have planned for in there--and how active you and your significant other are while doing it.

Me...

No stabilizer jacks needed.

Maybe once every 6 months, but that doesn't warrant a permanent installation.

Thanks fellas' , ill have to figure out the best way to mount them if i decide to use any.

Ira .....I think that would be a sight seeing a teardrop rockin' back and forth. I have to say ....i've never seen that yet!! :rofl:

Light weight?? I guess you didn't pull yours off a 33'er didja. I'll bet I dropped 60+ lbs off my trailer when I pulled them off!! :thinking:

They work great and I can jack the trailer up with them if need be, but light they ain't.

All I can tell you Crappie (and I can't believe I'm calling you that), is that we're all toally retarded here buying and installing stuff that doesn't make a s*** of difference in the end.

Hell, I haven't done hardly any camping at all in mine, but I'll be damned if I'm going to buy and shlep wheel chokes with me when two stupid BRANCHES at the site will do the same thing.

See what I mean?

There's a point when you step back and think, "What do I have to have--and what do I WANT to have!?"

Even if the want part has nothing to do with reality.

They were designed for lightweight trailers according to the manufacturer. I know the jacks themselves are not very light. But they sure do work good!

Oh, btw, I think many teardrops could get by with just the two rear jacks.

These jacks are recommended for tent trailers and lightweight trailers with up to 16" of clearance from frame to ground. This product is an ideal replacement for Atwood, Fulton and other non-screw design corner stands.

Here's how I mounted the BAL stabilizers on my trailer. Just a piece of angle iron and some bolts.

Ira...so she's out of the industry huh? guess it makes the VHS I have more valuable....sorry guy, you posted it ages ago, I just follow up....strictly in fun :lol:

And to stop the hijack...I use 2 Atwoods on the rear end of the tear and the front wheel jack, gives plenty of stability, but you really can't jack up a tear to change a tire with the Atwoods...they weren't designed for that type of lifting...Doug

Had a neighbor that said to bring 2 Harbor Freight bottle jacks for the rear ONLY if you need them. Said most campgrounds are fairly level anyways......just a thought :thinking:
