Any Computer Guru's?

Postby Lesbest » Fri Jan 05, 2007 8:32 pm

I need some help with my computer-- I installed a demo program for a piece of auto equipment ment to be used as a sales tool. It was 322MB and didn't work as well as I hoped. Tried to delete thru the add/delete section of the control panel. The "install" wizard loads, the message says this will delete the program do you want to continue? I click yes, the box blinks and says it is succesfully uninstalled, the list blinks and it is still on the list. Only shows 5.08mb---looked for files that had the name of the unit and deleted those, name of company and deleted those, name of takeover company and deleted those. Now when I try to delete what is left the file is getting bigger by .01 after each try, up to 5.14mb. No shortcuts left, no icons, only shows up on list of programs in the add/delete list-nowhere else. Any suggestions would sure be welcomed. I'm not that computer savvy and haven't gone into the registry to look for anything like someone suggested. Thanks Les

Les

What operating system are you using? Are you using windows XP? If so, I would go to the restore function.

You need to go in thru safe mode and delete those files.

Click 'start' > 'run' type 'msconfig' go to 'boot.ini' tab > click 'safeboot' hit 'ok'
it will ask if you want to reboot in safe, tell it yes. Delete your files. While you are there go to 'stsrt' > 'run' > type 'regedit' got to 'current user' > 'software' > find any instances associated with that program, right click and delete. Do the same thing in local machine. Go back to msconfig and set back to normal boot.
Follow thru and restart.

Usually a demo program has an uninstall wizard that it loads with the program.. found where the exe. files are installed. If you down loaded this from the manufacture;s website , you can try emailing them and they might tell you how to remove it. I've done that with some stuff I've downloaded off the web with average results......

But yeah, finding a restore point prior to installing the program will work too, as long as you haven't saved or added anything you want to keep after that.

Me???? Fdisk...Reformat....Reinstall.....
