Latest Progress 1-9-07

Postby SkipperSue » Tue Jan 09, 2007 7:56 pm

The past month has been slow, haven't really done much. I got the counter top installed and the back cabinet frame done. I plan on just making bins and putting some nice wire screen up about a quarter of the way up to hold stuff in place. Also starting the frame work for below the counter. I plan on moving the piece of wood that's in the middle over closer to the ice chest, the new water container is just too close to the new battery box. I plan on making an enclosure just for the battery area.

Here is a shot from behind the galley showing the pocket hole construction, man I love those things!

And here's a shot of the fan cut out in the inner skin.

More to come!

Nice woodwork, I like to use pocket holes as well for my cabinet work. Haven't seen much on the forum yet, but I think it is the easiest way to build cabinet frames. Are you using the KREG jig?

Yep, it's the Kreg jig. It's so easy with this gadget. :D

Skip, WOW!! Nice Job!! :applause:

YES!!! The Kreg Pocket screw Jig ROCKS!!! I love mine. I'm using it to mount, install, whatever, all my cabinets.\

Whats the gray stuff between the spar and the upper galley? Obviously it's caulk, but I have some gaps to fill on my build, and I was wondering what to use.

Brick, I thought he did T&G too, but its paneling. Looks good huh??

That was the first thing I noticed too, but I didn't want to hurt his feelings.

Now why would that hurt my feelings? :R

Mary K, it's some 50 year flashing caulk that I had around. I'm trying to keep some form of insulation between the cabin and the galley, worked good to seal up the little cracks.

I really haven't decided on what to do yet other than not the woody look, it has some nasty gouges in it. Paint most likely but aluminum would be nice if I can find any around here.

Looks great sue. I like those boards on the ceiling. I used dowell pins for my face frames just cause that is what I am familiar with. The guys at the woodworking store all swear by pocket screws.
